This role is responsible for driving associate member growth, improving associate member engagement and retention, managing sponsorships, and overseeing the Annual Convention Product Show. The position works closely with SMACNA leadership, internal departments, associate members, premier partners, vendors, and exhibitors to ensure a high-quality member and sponsor experience.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Development
Prospect, recruit, and qualify potential Associate Members
Build and manage a robust prospect pipeline and prepare reports for SMACNA leadership
Clearly communicate the Associate Member value proposition, tiers, and benefits
Ensure all applicants meet SMACNA Associate Member eligibility requirements
Maintain knowledge of the industry and Associate Member competitive landscape
Process new applications accurately and in a timely manner
Manage the full onboarding process for new Associate Members
Process invoices and coordinate with Accounting to process payments
Collaborate with Marketing to promote new Associate Members through the website, publications, and other channels
Program Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for Associate Members, handling inquiries, issue resolution, and regular engagement
Manage and execute fulfillment of Associate Member benefits (e-newsletters, webinars, product show participation, etc.)
Coordinate and manage all logistics for the Annual Product Show, including RFPs, sponsorships, exhibitor kits, and digital marketing
Track and report program metrics, including revenue, participation, and membership counts
Manage Associate Member renewals, including payment monitoring, follow-up, and coordination with Accounting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date Associate Member records in NetForum
Lead Premier Partner contract negotiations and ongoing communications
Product Show Management
Responsible for managing all aspects of the Annual Convention Product Show
Oversee RFPs, vendor selection, and contract negotiations
Serve as the primary liaison for exhibitors, managing applications, booth assignments, floor plans, exhibitor kits, and signage
Develop and execute product show marketing and promotional communications
Collaborate with the Meetings Team and Housing/Registration teams on logistics, scheduling, and the Product Show Breakfast
Produce post-event and ongoing reports covering sales, marketing, registration, and housing data
Sponsorship Management
Manage sponsorship opportunities across multiple SMACNA events
Design and execute sponsorship marketing campaigns targeting prospects and Associate Members
Draft, negotiate, and manage sponsorship agreements and contracts
Process invoices and coordinate with Accounting on payments
Manage and coordinate sponsor signage and materials according to sponsorship packages
Work on-site with the SMACNA Meetings team and hotel staff to ensure proper execution of all sponsorship deliverables
Requirements
Skills & Abilities
Self starter who is strong in sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills
Excellent organizational and project management abilities
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates a strong team-oriented mindset and willingness to handle administrative responsibilities
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with Map Your Show, NetForum, Informz, or similar platforms preferred
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales or business development
Minimum of 5 years managing high-profile clients, partners, or sponsors
Minimum of 5 years managing sponsorships, tradeshows, or large-scale events
Ability to travel up to 30%
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
5+ years of experience working in an association environment
5+ years of experience in the construction or building trades industry
