For all Graduate Coordinator positions
- 20 hours weekly, 12-month commitment (summers increase to 25 hrs weekly) beginning July 6, 2026, but could start earlier
- Full funding of in and out of state tuition up to 9 credit hours per semester, with a maximum of 36 credit hours over 2 academic years
- Refer to each position regarding stipend/compensation
- Graduate Coordinator is responsible for University fees, books, and health insurance
- $500 on the Rowan Card each semester, which can be used for food/books
- Professional development funding potentially available for conferences, workshops, certifications, and is contingent on budget allocation
- Annual 8 holiday days off and 3 weeks of PTO available
- Additional employment outside of the Campus Recreation must be reviewed and approved by your direct supervisor
- Summer class and external employment requests may be made to your direct supervisor for review and approval
- Rowan Graduate Coordinator parking permit - townhouse permits are the responsibility of the residential students
- Renewal of your Graduate Coordinator contract is contingent upon your work and academic performance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into a graduate program at Rowan University
- Valid Driver’s License and/or ability to obtain valid Driver’s License required
- Weekend and evening availability
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, both verbal and written

- Knowledge and experience with desktop publishing and other computer applications in a PC environment

Responsibilities for all positions
- Attend bi-weekly Pro Staff meetings
- Ability to work evenings and weekend hours
- Assist with Campus Recreation special events, all campus recreation staff trainings and meetings, and other duties as assigned
- Participate in Campus Recreation committees
- Assist with Open House/Orientation events and other marketing/outreach of campus recreation programs
- Develop and administer assessments and evaluations
- Attend and actively participate in professional development opportunities
- Lead new student employee hiring sessions
- Work collaboratively with other departments and Graduate Coordinators across campus

Grad Coordinator - Terms of Appointment

Graduate Coordinator of Facilities
The Graduate Coordinator of Facilities position is to assist Campus Recreation with the facilities and operations, including program assistance, staff, and facility supervision. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations. The Assistant Director will work with the Graduate Coordinator and expects clear communication of expectations, goals, timeliness, and will provide consistent feedback and evaluation. The Graduate Coordinator will be expected to lead, mentor, and evaluate student building managers and facility operations assistants in addition to the overall maintenance of the Campus Recreation facilities and fields. This individual will contribute to planning strategic goals, assessment of existing facilities/fields and contributing to positive changes in management of facilities staffing, equipment, communication with facilities trades, informal recreation logistics and event operations. The assistantship will provide the student with comprehensive, hands-on training to further enhance their professional development in the field of recreation.
Operations
- Train as a Building Manager to work one shift per week and fill in on shifts as needed/assisting with facility management
- Support the daily operations, logistical coordination and routine maintenance tasks for the Student Recreation Center, Fitness Center and outdoor fields/courts
- Act as the on-call representative for emergency situations (inclement weather, no-show building manager, facility maintenance emergencies)
- Review and revise the standard operating procedures and task assignments for Facility Operations Assistants schedule shifts and responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring the timely display of facility closure signage
- Coordinate staffing for departmental special events which include late night events and weekend programming throughout the year
Student Development, Training and Supervision
- Recruit, motivate, hire, train, mentor and evaluate all building facility and operation staff (approximately 20 Building Managers, 1 Lead Building Manager, 15 Facility Operations Assistants and 1 Facility Operations Supervisor)
- Assist in the supervision and continued development of the entire operations team student staff
- Serve as liaison between professional and student staff with efforts focused on communication of department initiatives and training staff performance and efficiencies
- Assist with the coordination and execution of weekly/monthly staff meetings, new staff on-boarding procedures, and help support the supervisor(s) with scheduling and scheduling issues that might arise
- Assist in evaluating and revising the Facilities Operations Manual, Building Manager Manual and Campus Recreation Risk Management manual
Facility Supervision and Oversight
- Assist with supervision of custodial/housekeeping operations
- Review current techniques and trends to implement best practices in facility management
- Perform daily and/or weekly facility audits
- Assist with performing maintenance, cleaning and repair work
- Input and follow-up on work orders concerning maintenance problems
- Assist in researching equipment, vendors, and contractors for building maintenance and upgrades
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in sport management, recreation, student personnel, higher education, facilities management, physical education, leisure studies, exercise science, or related field
- 1-2 years working within areas of campus recreation operations, facilities, events, or informal recreation

Graduate Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness and will assist with the administrative, operational, and programming duties in the areas of group fitness, personal training, health and well-being promotion, instructional classes, incentive programs, special events and university outreach. The assistantship will include oversight of the fitness instructor, program monitor, personal trainer and fitness intern staff. Additionally, this position will assist with the daily operations of the recreation center group exercise room, programming spaces, and equipment management. The assistantship will provide the student with comprehensive, professional training to further enhance their development in the fitness, wellness, and recreational field.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and delivery of diverse programmatic initiatives related to student and employee well-being, group fitness, personal training, health promotion, special events and outreach
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote all fitness and wellness programs, events, and services
- Assist in the evaluation and assessment of all program offering to ensure programs are meeting the needs of all students
- Lead a minimum of 2 group fitness classes and/or train clients on a weekly basis
- Lead fitness, wellness, and recreation related programs, workshops, and presentations
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, supervision and evaluation of the group fitness instructors, program monitors, personal trainers and fitness & wellness interns
- Oversee personal training program or group fitness program including staffing, program creation, and evaluation
- Create specialized workshops (e.g., “Intro to Strength Training,” “Cardio Basics,” “Mindful Movement”) to ease new users into fitness routines
- Collaborate with certified trainers to ensure programs meet safety standards and align with best practices in fitness education
- Develop educational materials (brochures, videos, online guides) that explain fitness concepts in accessible language
- Promote inclusivity by tailoring programs to diverse populations, including those with limited fitness experience or unique needs
- Establish partnerships with student organizations (cultural clubs, residence hall associations, academic societies, etc.) to co-create fitness and wellness initiatives.
- Oversee program monitor team including scheduling, development, and evaluation

Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred degree in exercise science, kinesiology, human performance, health education, wellness, or related field.
- Experience working in group fitness and/or personal training programs within a collegiate recreational setting.
- Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NASM.
- Experience planning and implementing fitness or wellness programs.
- Experience leading group fitness classes and/or experience as a personal trainer is preferred.
- Experience supervising student staff is preferred.

Graduate Coordinator of Marketing
This position is primarily responsible for implementing marketing strategies to promote and increase student and member engagement in Campus Recreation programs and services including the areas of aquatics, facilities, fitness and wellness, intramural sports, member services, risk management, sport clubs, and student development. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing, Member Services, and Business Operations. The assistantship will provide the student with comprehensive, hands-on training to further enhance their professional development in the fields of marketing and recreation.
Marketing Responsibilities
- Collaborate with professional staff to develop new marketing strategies, promotional campaigns, and events
- Lead the Campus Rec street team by coordinating tabling events and ensuring distribution of marketing collateral
- Design flyers, brochures, posters, and other print materials, and distribute them across campus
- Create digital collateral such as digital ads, social media graphics, short videos, and website content
- Schedule social media posts promoting Campus Rec services, programs, and events
- Work closely with the university social media office to ensure compliance with university standards
- Engage with the online community to foster strong customer relationships
- Compile and analyze social media analytics to improve promotional campaigns and strategies
- Manage and maintain photo archives from programs and events
- Oversee temporary facility signage and maintain promotional materials including digital and tabletop displays, bulletin boards, and giveaways

- Maintain and update the Campus Rec website using the Cascade software
- Make edits to the Campus Rec FusionGo App as needed and update member portal widgets regularly
- Gather social media metrics using Sprout Social, website traffic using Cascade, and newsletter metrics using Constant Contact
- Schedule push notifications on the mobile app to promote services, programs, and events and to announce closures and cancellations
- Manage communications media for the facilities including all FusionWave digital displays and networked fitness equipment
- Participate in all trainings provided by Innosoft Fusion

Graduate Coordinator of Sport Clubs and Student Development
This position assists in the direct supervision of the Sport Clubs program, including oversight of student employees and participants/coaches and the Campus Recreation student development experience. The individual reports to the Assistant Director of Sport Clubs and Student Development. The position assists in the supervision of department-level student development aspects including general recruitment, hiring protocols, all staff training, monthly workshops, departmental socials/celebrations, and all staff assessment. The assistantship will provide the student with a comprehensive and engaging experience to further enhance their professional and career development in the field of collegiate recreation.
Sport Clubs Responsibilities
- Assist in overall administration and advising of approximately 50 active & petitioning Sport Clubs with the Assistant Director
- Evening and weekend supervision of Sport Clubs home practices or events/competitions
- Provide supervisory coverage in the absence of the Assistant Director
- Train, mentor, schedule, and evaluate Sport Clubs Supervisors as first responders and event management at sport club home events and practices
- Assist in the planning and implementation of Sport Clubs Officer trainings, including monthly officer meetings with impactful student development and sport club leadership topics
- Coordinate each semester with the intramural sports, informal recreation, and special events departments for reservation of indoor and outdoor spaces

Student Development Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Assistant Director on the planning, developing, assigning, and evaluating Campus Recreation all-staff trainings
- Present at New Staff Trainings on Campus Recreation policies and procedures, along with assistance in staff onboarding
- Assist in coordinating four student staff Real World Connections workshops and presentations
- Develop assessment and evaluation procedures for all staff trainings and Real World Connections
- Coordinate student onboarding logistics for positions, including managing employment applications through Proflink.
- Manage incentive and recognition programs for student staff members in collaboration with other Campus Recreation Graduate Coordinators
- Assist in the planning of student staff social events
- Coordinate early move-in procedures for All-Staff Training in August
- Manage all Campus Recreation employee contact information
- Monitor the staff uniform and apparel inventory
Additional Responsibilities
