Job Summary/Basic Function: Teachers College is hiring an Email Marketing and CRM Manager to develop, implement, and execute email marketing campaigns in support of college-wide communications, fundraising activity, and events.
The Email Marketing and CRM Manager will manage a calendar of email communications directed at internal and external audiences. They will elevate the creative presentation and messaging of Teachers College’s email communications to optimize engagement and guide users to desired actions. The Manager will leverage all features of TC’s CRM platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, to automate and scale campaigns through the configuration of user journeys, triggered emails based on user activity, and the development of dynamic lists for communications and remarketing purposes. The Manager will report on email campaigns, provide analysis to optimize campaign performance and advocate within the TC user community to ensure that communications follow email best practices.
The Manager will collaborate with other members of the Digital Campus Infrastructure team, as well as the Brand & Creative Studio and Strategic Communications teams, Institutional Advancement, College Events and other administrative offices throughout Teachers College. This position is part of TC Generation within Institutional Advancement, which is a hy-flex work environment offering remote work and flexible work schedules.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least two years of progressively responsible experience in an email marketing position, ideally in higher education or a nonprofit organization
Experience working and building within a CRM and marketing automation system; knowledge of and experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Studio a must
Experience setting up User Journeys, triggered emails and personalized content in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
Experience coordinating with internal stakeholders and partners on email project requirements, delivery of assets, and production timelines
Experience with the creation and maintenance of target email lists, and collaborating with database administrators on dynamic list development, segmentation, cleansing, maintenance, and the processing of subscribes/unsubscribes
Experience building accurate queries for e-mail sends, ensuring deliverability to the right audiences
Experience managing an email deployment calendar and coordinating send requests from multiple stakeholders
Experience creating, testing and deploying emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud using standardized templates and processes
Experience identifying problems with email deployments and troubleshooting deliverability issues
Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills
Experience with designing email templates and maintaining a content library in Marketing Cloud
Subject matter expert on email best practices for content, design, subject lines, list segmentation strategy, scheduling and deliverability
Experience reporting and summarizing email performance metrics to campaign collaborators and to leadership
Experience leveraging text messaging for marketing and communications campaigns a plus

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience writing AMPscript and SQL queries to configure user journeys, triggered emails and personalized email content
Familiarity with email platforms Blackbaud NetCommunities and Mailchimp
Project management experience in complex organizations
Experience setting up A/B testing of email content and templates and interpreting results
Knowledge of marketing and communications in a higher education or non-profit organization as it relates to engagement, fundraising and event promotion a plus
Understanding of the role that email and CRM marketing plays in an omnichannel marketing environment and a vision for applying automation and data-driven insights to drive increased engagement and interaction
