The Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) is seeking a Marketing Manager with a focus on Strategy and Communications to join our marketing team. CBDCE is a national certifying body that oversees several certification programs for health professionals who work in the field of diabetes education and care. Over 20,000 individuals currently hold one of the two active certifications offered by the organization.
This position is a vitally important one and is part of the ‘small but mighty’ CBDCE team. This role is a great opportunity to have a significant impact on the success of an organization. The CBDCE national office is located in Schaumburg, IL and we offer the option of a hybrid environment, with 2-3 days working in the office.
Essential Functions: Manages strategic marketing efforts for the organization and its certification programs. In collaboration with the Director of Certification and Marketing, this position will be responsible for brand positioning, messaging frameworks, campaign strategy, partnerships, and processes to support certification recruitment, retention, stakeholder engagement, and revenue-generating initiatives while ensuring compliance with accreditation and ethical marketing standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
In collaboration with Director of Certification and Marketing:
develop, implement, and assess marketing and communications strategies that advance the organization’s mission and certification programs, including recruitment of new certificants, retention and recertification of current certificants, and promotion of certificants to key stakeholders.
establish and maintain the organization’s brand positioning, messaging frameworks, and communication priorities to ensure consistent tone, voice, and accuracy across all marketing and outreach efforts.
Identify and evaluate opportunities for external advertising, partnerships, sponsorships, and collaborative marketing initiatives with aligned organizations, including identifying strategic objectives, success metrics, and oversight of approved agreements.
Manage certification-related outreach activities, including lifecycle marketing, audience segmentation, and prioritization of campaigns to support organizational growth goals, including identification of opportunities for growth.
Oversee revenue-generating marketing initiatives, including approved advertising opportunities and promotional efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational values, accreditation standards, and ethical marketing practices.
Review and interpret performance data, analytics, and market insights to assess effectiveness of marketing strategies and inform ongoing refinement and prioritization.
Collaborate with leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors to support governance-related marketing initiatives and organizational priorities, including attendance at meetings as needed (travel required).
Represent the organization at select industry events and meetings, staffing exhibit booths and engaging with stakeholders as required (travel required).
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressive marketing or communications experience.
Experience with certification bodies, associations, or nonprofit organizations strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to translate data and insights into actionable strategies.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders, including leadership, Board members, volunteers, partners, and external audiences.
Ability to travel and work evenings or weekends as required.
Demonstrated track record of adaptability and enthusiasm for working in a growing organization where new initiatives and innovative approaches are encouraged.

Regular, predictable attendance is required.
