Reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Marketing in the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering?s Marketing and Communications Office, we are seeking an Associate Director of Recruitment Marketing who will support the prospective student enrollment marketing efforts for the school?s graduate programs, including the Whiting School?s 10 department full-time/on-campus master?s and PhD programs, Engineering for Professionals online master?s programs, and the Doctor of Engineering (DEng) non-residential doctoral degrees, as well as support of pre-collegiate and professional and executive education efforts as needed.
Primary responsibilities will include developing content and comprehensive strategies to recruit and enroll students through marketing and communications tactics, including but not limited to digital lead generation, email marketing, social media, blogs, and video. The Associate Director of Recruitment Marketing will also work with the communications team to create content and execute organic marketing tactics to promote to a variety of stakeholders as needed. Some domestic travel may be required.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
In collaboration with the director, develop and execute recruitment marketing strategies aligned with the school?s goals for graduate, pre-collegiate, and professional and executive education, leveraging market research and data analysis to identify opportunities and trends.
Manage and develop a full-funnel marketing campaign, through paid and organic efforts, to generate student leads and establish effective marketing tactics throughout the funnel, from awareness to enrollment.
Manage the development, maintenance, and execution of marketing communications to students in the pipeline, up to and including prospective and admitted students, through an integrated marketing strategy, including but not limited to digital marketing, email campaigns, and promotion of information sessions and webinars through Slate.
Develop, update, and manage the prospective student database through Slate to ensure its integrity, and coordinate with the admissions, enrollment, and lead nurture team to streamline communications to effectively provide service to our prospective students.
Collaborate with the digital media manager, marketing coordinator, and communications team on the creation, development, and distribution of content for social media, website, blogs, and digital platforms to share the student experience (i.e. community-building events, career counseling programs, etc.). These efforts will also promote the school?s participation in or hosting of recruitment events.
Serve as the central strategist for promoting information sessions, open houses, and program events (in-person and virtual), including monthly Meet the Recruiter, Admitted Student Day, etc.
Responsible, in collaboration with the recruitment team, for meeting application and enrollment goals. Must analyze all marketing data, leverage market research, create marketing reports on a regular basis, and make optimizations as needed to increase overall conversions and enrollments.
Work with director and other team members to support marketing efforts for international, industry, and/or other partners relevant to student recruitment.
Serve as key point of contact for the data functions, marketing options, queries, and more in Slate.
As needed, travel domestically on behalf of the Whiting School?s graduate programs for recruitment and other college-related events.
Serve as a key contributor to providing high quality customer service to meet the marketing recruitment and enrollment needs of the Whiting School.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communications skills (writing/editing test may be administered), ability to manage multiple tasks, and organizational and creative fluency.
Must be able to function collaboratively and effectively in a team environment, while also functioning autonomously with ability to set own deadlines and workflow.
Strong project management skills and experience with project management tools (e.g. JIRA, Asana, Basecamp).
Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse personalities.
Ability to work well under pressure in an ever-changing environment.
Requires working knowledge of Zoom, MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Working knowledge of SLATE or other marketing automation systems is highly desirable.
Experience or working knowledge of Mailchimp, Constant Contact or other marketing email platform.
Experience or working knowledge of CMS systems.
Experience with and working knowledge of WordPress.
Experience working in recruitment or communications office of an educational institution, nonprofit, or industry.
Willingness to create and execute new strategies beyond paid efforts.
Ability to evaluate effectiveness of current recruitment efforts against targets and benchmarks and recommend alternatives as needed.
Supervisory experience helpful.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Five years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or Public Relations preferred.
Six to eight years of related experience in higher education, establishing and executing an integrated marketing strategy, and from that strategy, analyze multi-platform marketing campaigns with the goal of generating leads, increasing enrollments, or similar.
The ideal candidate will be able to function collegially and effectively in a team environment, working well with others toward achieving objectives, but also work independently with the ability to set own deadlines and workflow.
Experience creating and executing digital marketing campaigns, including paid, organic and social media.
