Job Summary:
The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM) strengthens the schools internal culture through marketing and communications. The position leads the functions of the schools marketing and communications/public relations team, serves as a thought partner to school leaders on key marketing and communications issues, and manages the schools marketing and communications budget and vendor relationships. The positions responsibilities include developing all phases of the schools marketing and communications life cycle, leading strategic campaign development and media planning, creating communications and marketing strategies, overseeing internal communications, and handling issues management and crisis communications. This position collaborates effectively with cross-functional leaders and is available to help manage emerging issues. This position may be required to work nights and weekends, as needed. Additional responsibilities include developing content, programs, and projects across a broad variety of internal and external audiences (KPSOM leaders, faculty, staff, media, students, prospective students, etc.) to support organizational business strategies and to promote and protect the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine brand and reputation.
Essential Responsibilities:
Models and drives continuous learning and maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce by aligning cross-functional resource plans with school objectives; overseeing the recruitment, selection, and development of talent; motivating and empowering teams; and building organizational capacity.
Develops and maintains integrated marketing and communications plans in alignment with school goals by identifying customer and operational needs; analyzing resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; and engaging strategic, cross-functional groups to champion and drive support for plans and priorities.
Sets overarching strategy and goals for marketing and communications/PR teams and executes plans against clear, measurable goals.
Oversees complex marketing and communications activities by ensuring team members provide support to internal and external stakeholders; managing and maintaining vendor relationships; reviewing and approving marketing and communications activities, including internal newsletters/emails; defining and communicating the KPSOM brand to ensure positive reputation and recognition; ensuring communications align with school standards; and ensuring marketing and communications activities and performance metrics are documented and tracked.
Evaluates pitches and concepts for all campaigns, provides approvals and budget allocation for all major projects.
Directs and oversees the implementation of marketing and communications efforts by consulting with stakeholders; utilizing vendors as appropriate; assessing effectiveness of marketing and communications; ensuring plans are implemented on time, on budget, and within agreed-upon specifications; and resolving critical issues during critical times.
Manages key relationships and partners with various internal and external leaders, stakeholders, and divisions within the school to collaborate, interpret, analyze, and address key business issues related to marketing and communications for the school.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in marketing, brand management, communications, and public relations.
Minimum of eight (8) years supervising a large team.
Education

Proven ability to build marketing strategies tied to business plans (long and short-term).

Masters degree or related advanced degree preferred.
This role pays an estimated base salary of $173000 - $223850 / yearplus incentive pay, robust benefits and other support for those who are eligible.
