Position Summary: University Communications merges strategy with creativity to develop content and experiences that communicate CMU's We Do brand and values. As part of the integrated marketing team, the content marketing writer creates branded content for a variety of audiences across print and digital channels, including email, web, print, social media, blogs,texting campaigns and digital advertisements including video commercials and animated ads. Using the appropriate brand voice and tone based on audience, channel and marketing strategy, the writer shapes CMU's brand narrative to engage readers and inspire them to take clear action - to further explore the university's web presence, request information, visit CMU, apply for admission and enroll. In addition to developing content, a primary responsibility of this position is to engage the campus community in brand building and brand advocacy. This will include assisting in brand trainings and being a brand resource for content producers across campus. This position reports to the Associate Director of Integrated Marketing and collaborates with graphic designers, videographers, photographers, web designers, social media content creators, and other University offices as needed. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver branded content on deadline in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree, preferably in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, English or a related field. One year of experience in producing written content for marketing/communication campaigns, advertisements and web. Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail. Diverse writing and editing experience with demonstrated success in writing for the web, social media, digital and print advertisements. Exceptional grammar, spelling and proofreading skills. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to email marketing, blog writing and SEO tactics. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate a complex process to new audiences. Ability to complete multiple simultaneous projects within a deadline. Knowledge of AP style.

Duties & Responsibilities: Creates content for a variety of platforms and uses, including; email, blogs, web, social media, video and other digital advertisements and print, to successfully execute integrated marketing/communication campaigns. Conducts keyword research and uses strategic SEO practices to build and improve online content. Writes and creates landing pages using best practices for web and to improve conversions. Participates in content strategy and creative feedback sessions. Uses data to research creative performance and implement optimizations for email, web, advertisements and other digital assets. Contributes to building brand voice and tone. Creatively support video and commercial production. Maintains consistency in the Universitys brand and message throughout all communications. Researches the needs, tendencies, and trends of audiences including high school students, transfer students, parents, guidance counselors, nontraditional students and online learners. Proofs and edits others writing for both brand and AP style. Performs other duties as assigned.
