The Manager, Editorial Services is a key member of the Keck Medicine of USC Marketing & Communications office's Content team, and a leader who brings considerable experience to the planning and development of editorial marketing content and collateral pieces. A leader with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, the Manager, Editorial Services mentors junior writers to help them reach full potential, setting goals and enforcing performance standards. They work directly with clients to advise, create and modify editorial marketing pieces that advance the needs of the health system. The Manager, Editorial Services is able to interpret editorial direction from clients and leadership, especially as it pertains to larger marketing strategies and initiatives. This position requires an ability to collaborate with marketing and creative teams to present content in new and creative ways, such as interactive stories, graphics and videos.
Essential Duties:
Guides the development of marketing materials and publications that communicate the key messages of Keck Medicine of USC, ensuring they are strategic to the organizationsâ mission and are consistently delivered on time and on budget. Writes and edits content for both digital and print use.
Edits and coordinates the work of others for print, web and email publications, ensuring content is in line with marketing strategies and key initiatives of the health system. Ensures accuracy and completeness of projects.
Plans and supervises development of publications and marketing collateral, such as newsletters, magazines, brochures and fact sheets. Schedule and coordinate all aspects of digital and print publication production in order to meet all applicable deadlines, such as design, layout, client review, printing, distribution, etc.
Design and create content using graphics, design and word processing software. Determine type(s) of artwork (e.g. illustrations, photos, charts, graphs, design covers) needed while considering compatibility, content, audience, style, format, intent, etc.
Evaluate audience response to content and follows-up effectiveness. Make recommendations for future content development and distribution.
Interact with all internal and external sources necessary to successfully complete assignments.
Hire and oversee work of staff writers, vendors and freelance writers.
Performs other duties as assigned. Â
Required Qualifications:
Req Bachelor's degree Degree in Communications, Marketing or a related field highly preferred
Req 7 years 7 to 10 years' experience in an editorial/writing role (preferably with supervisory experience in health care).
Req Demonstrated effectiveness in verbal and written communication skills, initiative, project management and client service.
Req Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Req Proven track record of managing integrated content campaigns.
Req Understanding of analytics and measurements of the success of programs.
Req Requires mastery of all pertinent programs in Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Pref Master's degree Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field
Pref Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign.
Pref Ability to manage a budget for editorial services.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The annual base salary range for this position is $81,120.00 - $133,010.00.
