We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Power Marketing & Compliance to provide program leadership for power market compliance; transmission customer strategies; member and customer load serving requirements; managing the GRE relationship with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), and the GRE relationship with members, customers and their alternate power suppliers. This position oversees both internal staff and significant external business and contractual relationships.

Key responsibilities:
Oversees the development, interpretation, and application of regulatory rules, tariffs and frameworks associated with transacting in wholesale power markets and satisfying reliability-oriented requirements.
Manage power market compliance associated with the MISO tariff, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) rules and regulations, North American Electric Reliability Commission (NERC) rules and regulations, and GRE’s internal risk management policies.
Lead GRE efforts to influence and shape MISO market policies and priorities to benefit and protect GRE and its members.
Collaborate with GRE resource planning on long-term power supply decisions that support GRE compliance with MISO rules and requirements for GRE’s, members’, and customers’ portfolios.
Develop and implement strategies for participation of GRE, member, and customer generation and load in MISO Planning Resource Auctions.
Manage the accurate and timely submission of required compliance reports to FERC, NERC and MISO.
Manage communication and information exchange between GRE and MISO Independent Market Monitor (IMM) related to GRE market activities.
Provides expert opinion associated with power market compliance to internal and external stakeholder groups including senior staff, members, and third parties.
Manages transmission customer activities on behalf of GRE, member and customer resources and load.
Coordinate wholesale power purchase contract and alternative power supply options with member cooperatives.
Provide internal leadership and coordination regarding MISO’s customer-facing stakeholder groups and the appropriate MISO contacts for various GRE needs.
Supervises, coaches and cultivates department staff and other GRE employees to maximize productivity, teamwork and employee engagement.
Qualifications: Knowledge typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, public policy, or related field. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the energy industry, including five years’ experience with wholesale electric markets or energy regulatory agencies is required. An advanced degree in business, engineering, and/or certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is preferred.
