Detailed Description: The Director of Communications and Marketing's primary responsibility will be establishing, integrating, and managing the brand of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES). Working collaboratively with SOLES student-serving and academic departments, its centers and institutes, and the university's public affairs personnel, the position will enhance the reputation, promotion, and visibility of the School, to local, national, and international audiences.
As a key member of the Dean's administrative leadership team, this position will develop and implement marketing processes and policies for SOLES. The Director will also assist the Dean with managing all SOLES branded print and digital marketing collateral, content creation, and other specific marketing efforts such as speech writing, email marketing campaigns, and public relations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Enhancing the Reputation and Visibility of SOLES
Develop strategies to enhance marketing appeal, promote event participation, expand outreach, highlight planned giving programming and fundraising campaigns, and reinforce institutional messaging.
Serve as the liaison between the Dean's Office, faculty University Public Relations and University Marketing and Communications for the purpose of promoting SOLES.
Research, write, edit, and distribute the Dean's initiatives including, but not limited to speech writing, special events, press releases, media advisories, campus announcements, and other public relations and community engagement efforts.
Compose and publish the Dean's Newsletter on a quarterly frequency per year.
Brand Strategy and Management
Develop the SOLES comprehensive marketing and brand strategy to promote core values and attributes.
Evaluate marketing efforts, prepare cost-benefit analysis, and make recommendations based on results and desired effect.
Establish and implement a SOLES wide communication processes, policies, and procedures.
Consult and collaborate with administrators to conceptualize marketing efforts within each department. (such as design, production, and distribution of collateral.)
Provide professional development sessions to maximize the impact and compliance of SOLES program-related communications.
Measurement and Reporting
Analyze campaigns and translate data into recommendations to revise content marketing strategy.
Prepare and submit quarterly reports on trends and traffic to benchmark KPI's.
Develop KPIs and assist with collection and reporting of communication channel metrics to provide regular updates on the progress towards goals and initiatives.
Event Support
Have integral role on event subcommittees to develop promotion marketing campaigns to meet event goals.
Support aspects of event printing, design of materials and marketing budget.
Print and Digital Media
Source and publish content for SOLES target audiences on all appropriate communication channels.
Assist in the coordinating of photo shoots with subjects, photographer, and art director.
Ensure all postings work within/acknowledge University of San Diego branding guidelines.

Other Duties as Assigned

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent work experience 5-8 years prior experience in a multi-faceted marketing communications role, preferably with multiple business units
Experience with creative software such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator,
Experience with strategic use of database software. Salesforce preferred.
Proficient experience and knowledge in Google Drive programs.
Experience working with CRM communications programs such as Constant Contact.
