Brief Summary of Work for this position:
The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a creative and experienced marketing and communications professional to fill the newly created position of Marketing Director in the Office of University Relations. The successful candidate, operating under the direction of the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer (CMCO), will be charged with establishing coordinated marketing initiatives for the university. The marketing and communications expert who fills this role will have the opportunity to manage marketing partnerships, recommend opportunities for university-level initiatives, develop protocols, conduct market analyses, and, over time, build a marketing team and program within the Office of University Relations. The successful candidate will work closely with campus leadership and other marketing and/or communications professionals, both within University Relations and across the university, to perform a range of public communications and marketing-related work in a public institution setting. This position will be involved in marketing efforts to advance the university's mission and strategic priorities and enhance UNCW brand awareness among potential and current students, faculty and staff, alumni, donors, community partners and other stakeholders.
The position serves on the leadership team in the Office of University Relations, which is part of the Chancellor's Division. The position collaborates with the Art Director, Editorial Director, Media Production Director and Web Communications Director to achieve unit, divisional and university goals. Work involves both internal and external efforts to conduct marketing and communications project research by planning, designing, and executing marketing and communications projects, assessing and enhancing university-level social media strategies and managing advertising placements on various platforms. This position will focus on developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating marketing and communications campaigns to advance and support UNCW's mission.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; all degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Master's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
At least seven years of professional experience in marketing roles with increasing responsibility is preferred.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Office of University Relations is to strengthen brand identity and increase local, regional and national awareness of the UNCW mission; enhance internal communications between administration and faculty/students and among cross-departmental colleagues; and to support the university through engaging messaging, dynamic digital and print collateral, and vibrant photography and video productions. OUR collaborates with members of the UNCW community to promote key university initiatives, research and achievements.
