The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications department brings the Columbia Business School (CBS) mission, vision, and values to life through innovative and best-in-class marketing, communications, and content strategies. We work to assist our internal stakeholders with development and distribution of core messaging, strategic position and creative materials across channels and media. Our goal is to enhance the overall visibility of CBS, increase positive perceptions and engagement, and reinforce our commitment to shaping the ideas and leaders of tomorrow.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing & Technology, the Senior Associate Director Web Services is a vital member of the Digital Operations Team within the Marketing & Communications department. This individual will assist in our efforts to support all communications and digital marketing efforts of CBS, specifically through the School???s various websites and in support of the School???s social media & other communications platforms.
Responsibilities
Create and maintain visually appealing websites which feature a modern mobile-responsive user-friendly design, clear navigation, and exciting content.
Create and update top-level content on all CBS websites using the content management system Drupal.
Review and make changes to the PHP. Use semantic HTML, Sass/CSS and JavaScript where needed throughout the site to address areas of inefficiency.
Develop and implement methods for improving our web properties ensuring consistency with SEO/SEM on-page or technical best-practices.
Assist with on-page & technical optimization of all CBS websites in keeping with SEO/SEM best practices.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and other instructions and guides as needed for all CBS websites to ensure efficiency and successful operations.
Manage contractors dedicated to the website.
Meet with CUIT on a weekly basis to review and process all updates needed for the Drupal environment.
Collaborate with members of the Web team to support their work and implement UI/UX design changes on all CBS websites. Support web content providers in publishing content on the website, providing training to these users as necessary to help them become self-sufficient in publishing content.
Collaborate extensively with other areas of Marketing & Communications on producing ADA compliant, SEO/SEM compliant content for web, and email campaigns.
Utilize and enforce CBS???s brand and style guidelines across the CBS entire digital presence.
Monitor and update areas based on data obtained through web governance software such as DubBot as well as Google Analytics related to all CBS websites.
Work with developers and digital producers to determine appropriate metrics and behavior to track new and existing properties.
Oversee the budget for website-specific tools and communicate needs to the Director of Digital Marketing & Technology in a timely manner.
Communicate with all CBS stakeholders, to determine their needs and design preferences.
Understand and make use of ADA strategies to ensure content on all CBS websites is accessible, in compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, ADA 508 standards, and College web standards.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor???s degree and four years??? related experience required.
Demonstrated English Language proficiency.
Other Requirements
4+ years??? experience using content management systems (Drupal preferred)
4+ years??? experience with creating accessibility compliant web and other digital content.
4+ years??? experience using a work management or ticketing system such as Hive or Service Now
Excellent knowledge of HTML, Sass/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Git and other web technologies
Experience with developing REST APIs for integrations with other systems
Familiarity with DubBot or other Analytics tools is a plus
Experience working in an academic institution.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proactive and detail-oriented
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Use Git to publish all PHP modifications to the Drupal environment.
Utilize Jira in accordance with CUIT procedures for the reporting of issues.
Write thorough software test cases for every development bug fix or system enhancement for QA analysis as part of the Jira ticket submission process for CUIT.
