The Association of Black Psychologists is seeking a Marketing and Media Coordinator to work in its office based in Ft. Washington, MD (DC Metro area).
The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional who can lead and manage marketing, communications and media functions within an association non-profit organizational structure. Outstanding communication skills, strong leadership qualities, and good administrative, planning and organizational skills are a must.
The Marketing and Media Coordinator will have mid-level media experience, work well independently, and bring ideas and initiative to the position to sustain and expand our reach. This individual must fundamentally understand and be highly-motivated by our mission, and be able to effectively discuss our mission’s intersections across society.
Duties Include:
Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy for the organization
Develop brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms; develop and manage all communications material for the organization
Develop and edit electronic communications, and serve as quality control and editor on content, including e-newsletters, social media posts, website content, and press releases
Create and manage the organization’s social media profile and presence
Manage media relations and cultivate relationships with media members, influencers, partners, and community leaders on behalf of the organization
Develop and manage digital engagement, social media campaigns, and digital strategies
Develop and manage content for member communications (print, E-News, social media, and web)
Develop content and distribution plan for marketing of programs
Serve as Copy Editor to proof read materials developed by committees
Develop and manage marketing campaign for member recruitment and retention
Serve as the organization’s media liaison
Facilitate press conferences and briefings
Develop and disseminate press releases and position papers
Identify opportunities to engage with the press on evolving issues and current events that affect the African/Black community and psychological industry
Manage the organization’s website, coordinate with contracted IT, web, and other technology services and platforms.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in communications, marketing, public relations or a related discipline
5+ years of communications, marketing, public relations, or related experience
Proficiency in managing social media platforms and social media marketing; previous experience managing digital content and social media strategy strongly preferred
Impeccable copywriting and copy editing abilities
Strong leadership track record
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
Graphic design, layout, and publishing skills a big plus
Previous experience in nonprofit, mental health, or social justice organization a big plus
Working knowledge of content management systems, HTML coding, Word Press and digital graphics production preferred
Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and related tools
Physical Requirements:
Required to stand, walk and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; Clarity of vision; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; enter text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard; ability to climb flight to stairs to enter office; ability to stoop, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds
