Marketing Coordinator, Development and Alumnae Relations
Job Summary:
This is an exciting time for Barnard, an institution of higher education that is devoted to empowering young women to pursue their passions. As part of a department-wide evolution of our constituent relationship, fundraising, and engagement strategies and platforms--including a transition to Salesforce as our CRM database of record--a new role has been created to help manage the Development and Alumnae Relations department's varied marketing communications efforts. The Marketing Coordinator will report to the Director, Development and Alumnae Communications and will work closely with all Development and Alumnae Relations teams in developing solutions to ensure the department is meeting our fundraising and constituent engagement goals through the development, execution, and analysis of marketing communications campaigns and activities. Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In coordination with the Director, help to develop and evaluate a comprehensive Development and Alumnae Relations marketing strategy for Barnard.
- Assist with the design and implementation of successful marketing communications campaigns for fundraising, events, and other Development and Alumnae Relations initiatives.
- Configure marketing business processes related to content approval, groups, calendaring, etc.
- Manage and optimize constituent data within the department's primary marketing communications platform (Salesforce Marketing Cloud), including contact model, Data Extensions, Profile and Preference Centers, and audience segmentation.
- Assist with the creation and running of reports to be used as audience lists for marketing communications campaigns.
- Help design and implement constituent journeys and automated communications campaigns around various touchpoints.
- Collaborate internally as well as with outside vendors to produce digital and print materials, craft clear and persuasive marketing copy, and develop email templates and other content, including dynamic content.
- Conduct research on industry landscape, market trends, and constituent behavior, preparing reports by collecting, summarizing, and analyzing data.
- Develop relevant marketing reports and dashboards to help analyze campaign performance and drive data-driven decision making.
- Assist with user management and training for various communications tools and platforms including, but not limited to: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Experience Cloud, Salesforce Social Studio, GiveCampus, and others.
- Provide support to the Development and Alumnae Relations department and other internal areas on these platforms managing changes, projects, and issue resolutions.

Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing tools
- Experience with research methods using data analytics software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members
- Ability to strictly adhere to confidentiality protocols
- Knowledge of the concepts, strategies, and best practices of broadcast email, social media, web development, and other digital marketing tactics
- Familiarity with Customer/Constituent Relationship Management and Content Management System software
- Curiosity and passion for problem-solving and leveraging data to develop insights
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines
- Highly self-motivated contributor who works well as an individual and within a team environment
- Ability and willingness to occasionally work outside of standard business hours, including some weekends and evenings

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Strong understanding of marketing and communications
- Experience integrating relational databases, software platforms, etc. with other applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other Salesforce platforms, preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or other design and desktop publishing software preferred, but not required.
- Experience in a development setting within higher education or nonprofit preferred, but not required.
Additional Information: This job is primarily performed remotely, but will require a presence in the office (in addition to duties previously specified as on-site) for team and full staff meetings, and other times as directed by the supervisor.
