The Director Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement will serve an integral role in the overall marketing and promotion of Northwestern Athletics with a primary focus on select sport programs.  Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement, this position will facilitate the development and execution of strategic plans enhancing brand awareness, ticket sales, the fan/game experience and other revenue generating initiatives.  This role will work closely with all members of the Athletic Department as well as numerous constituencies within the University community.

Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Serve as the contact from the Marketing department for select sport programs participating in cross-functional teams, collaborating with numerous external units within the department.
2. For assigned sports programs, facilitate the creation and implementation of a comprehensive marketing, ticket sales, game experience, community engagement, social media, and email campaigns including coordinating calendars and timelines with each external operations unit.
3. Serve as the gameday event director and producer for assigned sports programs which includes creating game scripts, directing in-game fan experience elements, working to ensure sponsorship fulfillment and the scheduling and onsite oversight of gameday staff.
4. Serve as a liaison between the sports program and the department's community relations unit to enhance the profile of the team's involvement in the community.
5. Assist and/or lead in the execution of the gameday events for home football and men's basketball games including, but not limited to, overseeing and managing interns to ensure on-field/on-court sponsorship elements are appropriately executed, planning, and executing gameday operations, and assisting with activation of ticket sales initiatives.
6. Assist with special programs and events for the athletic department such as the Randy Walker Memorial 5K, Kids' Club, Meet the Team Night and others.
7. Serve as the liaison for the marketing department with various constituents on campus, as well as within the Evanston and Chicago communities.
8. Works closely with the staff of each program to ensure alignment with department and team initiatives.
9. Collaborates with the ticket sales and operations department to effectively price season, single-game, and group tickets to maximize revenue and attendance.
10. Oversee and manage the student internship program.
11. Helps manage distribution of email communications to ticket buyers, fans and season-ticket holders.
12. Helps manage Northwestern Athletics email database and communication through Paciolan and Cheetah mail
13. Collaborate with ticket office in developing messaging and execute email marketing and automation into maximize all revenue opportunities within the Paciolan and email system.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
2. 3-5 years of proven success in marketing, game experience, content creation, public relations, revenue generation, live event production, email marketing, advertising, or other similarly related field.
3. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across all teams.
4. Ability to work in dynamic fast paced environment.
5. Experience using Oracle Eloqua marketing automation tool.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. 
7. Proven expertise in communications including writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
8. Extensive computer skills in both Windows and Mac environments.
9. Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; expertise in using e-mail packages, WebEx, and the Internet.
10. Basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
11. Exceptional organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects occurring within a short timeframe; must be very detail-oriented.
