The Department of Biomedical Data Science (DBDS) is a growing academic research community, comprised of faculty, students, and staff, whose mission is to advance precision health by leveraging large, complex, multi-scale real-world data through the development and implementation of novel analytical tools and methods.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration (DFA), we are seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager to be a primary partner to department leadership tasked with facilitating growth and communications through the strategic development and execution of internal and external programs and forums. This position requires strong writing and operational skills. Duties include management of the department website, weekly digest (forum to consolidate dept communications providing updates on internal and external events, activities, etc.), social media, marketing materials (including original content development from faculty teaching, education, and research), newsletters, etc. This position will also play a key role in building our brand as we seek to better position the department within Stanford and the external community. This position may supervise the work of administrative support personnel.
Lead digital community-building through original content development, social media channels, branding, and blogs and the web.
Manage development and implementation of digital community strategy for a group, unit, project, program, initiative, channel, organization or unit; including how to engage customers and fundamentally impact their relationship with constituents.
Responsible for ownership and management of digital channels and/or the web. Oversee editorial strategy and voice (of the content through the channels).
Partner with internal stakeholders such as program teams, service teams, IT, campus partners to achieve program goals and to ensure coordination.
Manage constituent complaints and reputational issues and other high priorities on digital channels.
May hire, coach and manage teams.

Education and/or experience in marketing and branding
Strong writer with experience producing original content working with faculty in the academic setting
Experience producing newsletters and other promotional materials
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and minimum 3 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends.
Excellent writing and analytical skills.
Demonstrated problem solver.
Ability to leverage current and future trends to help an organization succeed at the initiative level, for a specific group, team or unit.
Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
Experience leading highly-functioning teams.
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.
