The Press emphasizes scholarship but also publishes text, trade, and reference titles. Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
Work with Marketing Managers on developing publicity materials, sending PR materials, and tracking reviews.
Research possible book awards, tracking dates and submitting required materials.
Qualify requests for review and exam copies by the media, faculty, teachers. Process orders for the legitimate requests.
Provide customer service and inquiries by faculty and authors regarding IU Press and Red Lightning Books
Work with Rights Manager to research possible rights sales and submission for the Library of Congress
Participate in marketing, editorial and staff meetings.
General Responsiblities
Under moderate supervision, performs routine administrative tasks related to advertising and sales processes.
Responds to customer inquiries and may assist with providing quotes, terms and conditions, and drafting contracts.
Distributes bills and contracts, processes payments, and distributes funds to appropriate account.
Processes documents into the appropriate university database and verifies that information is correct.
Prepares reports of advertising and sales figures.
Regularly conveys various product/service and/or advertising options to potential customers and answers questions about policies and procedures.
May provide guidance to lower-level Advertising/Sales Assistants or hourly employees.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Occasional packing and carrying of boxes. Ability to move up to 40 lbs. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
