The Associate Director, Digital Marketing, reports to the Senior Associate Director and plays an integral role in planning, coordinating, and executing digital marketing strategies for the promotion of the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) , Advancement and university programs and initiatives. This position will be a creative force for developing and cultivating a stronger Northeastern alumni community through existing and future digital platforms including, but not limited to, email and eNewsletters, OAR website development, marketing campaign websites, mobile communities, video, and other digital media platforms. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in interpreting data to inform OAR's overall marketing strategy and assist in generating impactful marketing for over 275,000 alumni.
The Associate Director, Digital Marketing will:
Develop and implement effective email marketing campaigns, eNewsletters, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Journeys, including conceptualizing, designing, and testing to maximize OAR's outreach and engagement of alumni
Track and analyze email marketing and website campaign results to develop efficient and effective campaigns through refined templates, content, and segmentation strategies
Oversee the maintenance of the OAR website including staying on top of trends in web design, developing a content-update calendar for OAR staff, maintaining a high-quality user-experience, and creating innovative campaigns highlighting specific areas of the website
Leverage content management and analytics tools, as well as develop and monitor performance indicators to generate better insight into our digital communities and provide recommendations for improvement
Drive forward OAR's digital strategy by establishing an expertise across digital systems including website, email marketing, social platforms, while contributing new and creative ways to leverage digital media in engaging Northeastern's network of over 275,000 alumni through enhancing email templates, updating the website, and staying on top of digital media trends
Establish relationships with technical contacts both within and outside the university and act as liaison for our backend systems. Act as a resource to stakeholders across OAR and Advancement by disseminating information and findings from digital marketing platforms including Salesforce Marketing Cloud and WPEngine
The Associate Director, Digital Marketing must be able to represent the University and the OAR team in a professional, enthusiastic manner with a customer service and team focus. As a member of the Advancement division, it is essential for the Associate Director, Digital Marketing to understand and actively support the role philanthropy plays in engaging the Northeastern community. This position is required to perform their duties, in person, on the Boston campus. Evening and weekend work required as needs dictate. Occasional ground and air travel, and a flexible schedule are required. While the primary role of this position is to focus on marketing and communications, it will also require the candidate to assist at several OAR events throughout the year, and other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree a plus. At least four years to six (4 to 6) years of experience in developing and analyzing digital marketing campaigns through email marketing, website development, and content creation. Demonstrated proficiency in social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other comparable and up-and-coming social media channels. Demonstrated proficiency in email management platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office. Experience with third-party social media software tools and relevant social listening or engagement tools. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communications. Candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter with enthusiasm for creative problem-solving and a strong customer service focus; an ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with alumni, volunteers, students, staff, faculty, vendors and external entities; and the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment on multiple projects at a time while meeting deadlines; Experience working in higher education a plus. Experience with website management tools like WPEngine, WordPress, and HTML knowledge a plus.
