Our location in Lake Forest, IL currently has an opportunity for a Global Marketing Director Automation and On-Market Systems.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Global Marketing Director, Core Diagnostics Automation and on-market Systems is responsible for setting the Division strategic direction and implementation of product roadmap, product management and execution activities that will drive customer-centricity to deliver real customer value and achieve business objectives. The Marketing Director is responsible for end-to-end marketing activity from developing the short and long-term strategy for Abbott's Automation business, including multi-generational portfolio planning, creation of compelling business cases in support of this strategy, and the development and execution of marketing plans that highlight differentiation and value of Abbott's automation and systems total solution to help achieve commercial objectives.
Specific responsibilities for this individual are as follows:
- Serving as the "face of the business" for the Automation and on-market Systems to stay ahead of the market and stay relevant to all target audiences to drive demand, confidence and growth.
- Developing a relationship with key stakeholders and contacts in Core Diagnostics Automation and Systems to gather insights for product/program development and to support key commercial initiatives.
- Collecting and analyzing customer insights, as well as shifts in market dynamics to lead strategic planning initiatives such as portfolio planning and ensure that appropriate customer requirements are crafted to guide the development of new products or programs to address customer pain points.
- Ensure internal employees integrate the voice of the customer into our product development process for accurate prioritization of customer requirements. This will entail new opportunities for internal employees to engage with the customer.
- Develop a thorough understanding of competitive offerings and provide commercial organizations with appropriately differentiated product(s) versus the competition in a profitable manner that adds value to the customer. Educate commercial organization how to effectively communicate differentiating aspects to capture value for Abbott.
- Identification of new business opportunities through expansion of existing products into new markets, or enhancements of existing products to maximize existing markets.
- Providing direction and input to all in-house groups such as Commercial Areas, Operations, Finance, R&D, Quality, Service and Regulatory that affect the successful achievement of business objectives.
- Manage relevant third-party supplier relationships by providing visibility and creating the case to support activities that are aligned with the needs of Abbott. Serve as the primary liaison with these third parties to navigate through Abbott stakeholders and processes.
- Creating worldwide demand for his/her product in a customer-centric manner by developing and overseeing execution of the marketing plan.
Experience & Skills required:
- The position requires an understanding of both the technology and capabilities of Diagnostics products, markets and customer dynamics, and functional operations across departments.
- The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership capability and possess an understanding of the sales process for diagnostics.
- Knowledge of the regulations and standards affecting In Vitro Diagnostics is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in business, life sciences, engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare marketing (medical device, biotech, IVD).
- Prior IVD experience required
- Product launch experience
- Scientific and/or technical experience in the laboratory field is highly preferred
- International experience
Preferred:
- MBA is strongly preferred.
