Boston University's Creative Services division of Marketing & Communications is seeking an experienced Web Content Manager. The Web Content Manager works closely with University colleagues and members of the University's internal Creative Services agency to execute timely website redesign projects with thoughtful, organized content in keeping with the University's messaging strategies.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Content Strategy and SEO, the Web Content Manager works closely with award-winning associate creative directors, web designers, content strategists, and marketing writers within Creative Services to identify ways to streamline content, define content groupings to maximize user experience and to achieve strategic website goals; the Web Content Manager works with writers to ensure correct language choices for search engine optimization.
The Web Content Manager guides colleagues on how to organize their content on their new website in order to meet the goals of their redesign and works closely with website content producers on a project-by-project basis to ensure editorial style and brand consistency related to language. Using both editorial judgment and advanced web skills, the Web Content Manager will advise on how to shape website content to best align with the University's brand voice, strategic goals, and priorities.
Bachelor's Degree in English or communications required.
3-5 years experience with content management and organization or managing editorial content.
Excellent grammar and web skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collegially on projects. Maturity, flexibility, and ability to work effectively under deadline pressure. Superior oral and written communication skills are essential to discuss project details with clients as well as process, content, and editorial questions of style, accuracy, message clarity, content organization, and standards of editorial tone and expression with colleagues and clients.
Must work well under pressure, be organized, and be able to assume a high degree of responsibility in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to detail. Understanding various web platforms and content management systems is an advantage, including familiarity with WordPress, Gather Content, and Trello.
