The Specialist will be responsible for supporting the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) in communications, marketing, and recruiting and retention initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and disseminating communications from the CHHS Dean's office to a variety of constituents; managing the college websites and social media sites; and developing materials for marketing, recruiting, and retention initiatives. This position reports directly to the Dean. The Communications and Marketing Specialist will develop a communications and marketing strategy for the CHHS in consultation with the Dean. The Communications and Marketing Specialist performs a variety of professional duties requiring a high degree of initiative, accuracy, judgment, knowledge, and discretion.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.
Create and disseminate communications from the Dean's office to college Department Heads/Chairs, Directors, faculty, students, and the broader campus and community
Design and operationalize marketing campaigns and resources
Develop materials for recruiting and retention initiatives
Develop and implement social media campaigns and manage social media sites
Design and manage content for CHHS web pages
Create and/or edit content for letters, emails, press releases, newsletters, speeches, remarks, welcomes, ribbon cuttings, etc. on behalf of the Dean
Solicit, edit, and distribute all media relations for CHHS to the WKU community and beyond in coordination with WKU Communications and Marketing staff
Serve as the CHHS liaison to WKU Communications and Marketing
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists other office personnel in task completion as required
Supervise CHHS Student Ambassadors and activities involving them
Plans, schedules, and prioritizes work activities and assignments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of assigned duties in meeting required deadlines
Interacts professionally with a wide spectrum of individuals to include faculty, staff, administration, students, and community members
Screening and referring inquiries to the appropriate office/personnel
Other related duties as requested or assigned

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 2 years related experience
Demonstrated proficiency in communication and marketing software (e.g. Adobe Cloud, photo editing software, publishing tools, infographic tools, etc.)
Demonstrated computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office Suite and multiple social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
Some evening and weekend hours required
Salary Grade: 107 Salary Range: $40,000 - $48,000
