The primary role of the “individual” is to manage the administrative online platform and support efforts to increase awareness and interest via social media in the University of Minnesota’s Minnesota Center for Philosophy of Science (MCPS) research project “Agency, Directionality, and Function: Foundations for a Science of Purpose.” Responsibilities include updating and modifying content within the administrative online platform (inclusive of a public facing website and private project-only administrative information); communicating with 50+ project team members around the world to coordinate grant-related events (both in-person and virtual) and respond to requests for technical assistance with features of the online administrative platform; coordinate with the local staff team for the research project on a regular basis, especially the research compliance manager, for the submission and collation of quarterly research reports; assisting in the planning and execution of all marketing and public communications efforts, such as blog writing, social media promotion, content ideation, and website implementation. The suitable candidate will have experience with website maintenance and administration, timely and efficient email correspondence, strong writing ability, and a good understanding of how to utilize social media channels for marketing purposes. The “individual” reports to and works closely under the direction of the project PI and Center Director, Alan Love.
This is a 75% time position (30 hours/week) for up to 3 years beginning on or after September 1, 2021. The position will not extend beyond August 31, 2024. Flexible work arrangements can be negotiated.
Administrative Communication & Coordination (50%) • Collaborate with the PI and core staff team to coordinate communication and planning with project team members related to events and activities (both in-person and virtual) across the life-cycle of the grant • Synthesize correspondence from multiple individuals to aggregate information for reporting purposes and identifying mutually agreeable meeting times • Coordinate with the Research Compliance Manager to determine whether appropriate information has been collected from project participants • Assist project participants with technical issues or difficulties encountered when using the online administrative platform • Correspond with project team members of distinct functional roles regarding their assigned tasks and deadlines.
Content Development & Management (25%) • Collaborate with the PI to write blog articles, web copy, bios, marketing emails, social media posts and advertisements, press releases, memos and other various marketing-communications related content. • Publish and update content on the project website, including website copy, blog articles, media placements, press releases and videos. • Assist with editing blog articles, press releases, advertisements, memos, email and other various content. • Effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format. • Conduct content research and ideation. • Create and maintain editorial calendars and syndication schedules for articles, social media and event promotion.
Social Media Marketing (25%) • Create social media platforms for the project. • Plan, build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification. • Generate, edit, publish and share content frequently. • Continuously improve social performance by capturing, analyzing and reporting on the appropriate KPIs/metrics and insights. • Create monthly and quarterly performance reports. • Coordinate and promote social media generated by the 24 subawards on this project. • Encourage stakeholders to engage with the project social networks
Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent, GoogleDrive • Familiarity with Drupal (and/or similar website/online management experience)
