Under the leadership of the Director of Athletics, and in partnership with colleagues across the Division of Student Affairs, the Director of Marketing, Promotions and Sports Information will enhance student engagement through the implementation and management of a marketing strategy to promote events and to create a dynamic fan experience through a robust brand presence internally and externally. This will support greater undergraduate retention. In addition, this position will contribute to the enrollment of qualified, talented student athletes through new recruiting/yield events.This position will develop an effective marketing strategy appropriate for an NCAA Division III institution and lead the promotional student engagement initiatives, including: preparing the promotions schedule for home events; collaborating with coaches to identify and implement grassroots marketing activities; designing promotional graphics for use in email marketing, digital and social media platforms; create a vibrant fan experience by producing game scripts, assembling music playlists and managing marketing displays and increase spectator engagement through the use of games, giveaways, contests, trivia,etc.Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: This position will coordinate all marketing and promotions for Simmons Athletics, both internally and externally, and is responsible for all aspects of in-game programming, facilitation of all campus recognition special events and enhancing faculty, staff, student and fan engagementMarketing and Promotions- External: Fan Engagement & Community RelationsResponsible for coordinating marketing strategy to boost attendance, increase brand visibility and enhance the fan experience on game day;Responsible for community relations and developing a partnership to involve local age group teams at home. events (i.e. mascot appearances, photo ops, serve as game day sideline staff, conduct mini-games);Develop and execute the Simmons Athletics social media strategy, utilizing multiple platforms to drive fan engagement, including specialized strategies for championship events, signing days and awards presentations;Stay up to date on industry trends and emerging platforms and analyze current state of Simmons Athletics social and digital media performance;Coordinate two special events to support enrollment and assist coaches with recruiting: Scholar Athlete Overnight (junior and senior prospects)Junior Day (include prospects and families)Marketing and Promotions-Internal: Student Engagement and Campus VibrancyDevelop and execute initiatives supporting student engagement through athletics. Create a dynamic atmosphere at each event using promotional giveaways, contests, trivia and music, etc. to increase student, faculty and staff attendance at home events;Offer a unique experiential learning opportunity through the development of an internship program in sports management /athletic communication;Promote athletic events and promotions on campus within the residence halls, Office of Student Leadership, Student Government and the entire student body;Collaborate on email and social media campaigns to Simmons students, faculty and staff; driving awareness and involvement with Simmons Athletics through social media outlets (in collaboration with University Marketing & Communications communication);Initiate Shark rewards program via smartphone App, in addition to creating a dynamic fan experience menu for assigned home events;Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and management of undergraduate student/intern staff home event staff. Sports InformationResponsible for sports information and home event operations for all athletic teams.
