Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Degree Programs, the Assistant Director is responsible for implementing the marketing strategies to achieve application and enrollment targets for Columbia Business School’s academic programs, including Full-Time MBA, Deferred Enrollment Program, Executive MBA, MS, and PhD programs.
Assists the Director in developing short- and long-term lead generation, lead nurturing, engagement-building, and inquiry-conversion strategies to achieve business objectives.
Works closely with the Director to monitor KPIs on all marketing tactics: paid advertising, social media, email marketing, web statistics, event sponsorships. Collects channel data from various resources (CRM, media dashboards, and google analytics) and synthesizes information in order to determine ROI and make recommendations to optimize campaigns.
Liaisons with media and advertising agencies to develop creative assets, brand positioning, and marketing strategies, and meet media deadlines. Conducts ad-hoc analyses and reporting, including targeting and application data to refine marketing campaigns and purchase targeted lead lists.
Manages, develops, and executes email campaigns. This includes, but is not limited to, developing templates, content sourcing, scheduling, proofing, identifying target segments, preparing data sources and files, and monitoring campaign performance and data in order to optimize future campaigns. Maintains the overall health of data sources to upload to CRM including de-duping and cleansing/scrubbing. Strong HTML skills required.
Acts as the day-to-day contact to key stakeholders, including Admissions team, Communications team, PR, Dean’s Office, etc. to fulfill special projects and requests. Works with Director to manage and build internal relationships through Columbia Business School.
Coordinates and executes all partnership/event marketing initiatives including but not limited to onsite logistics, attendee database management, pre- and post-event promotion.
Works with Director on budgeting and financial planning. Process and track all invoices through to payment. Reconciles marketing budget to ensure proper budget allocation and spend.
Works with Director on the execution and project management of print, video, online, and other marketing materials and sales tools. Coordinates with the staff, faculty, designers, advertising agency, other vendors and external suppliers; writes and/or edits communications copy; website and landing page updates; approves design and format.
Works with the Director and external partners to develop webinars to generate leads and engage with prospects and applicants
Works with the Information Technology Group and Admissions team to optimize CRM capabilities to better implement and track marketing and customer strategies. Manages dashboard that tracks campaign performance and spend and ensure data accuracy.
Participates in the development and execution of customer market research initiatives that lead toward greater insight into customer response, behavior, and perception, while staying on top of industry trends. Comfortable with managing and interpreting Google Analytics.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 2-4 years of directly related experience required.
Must possess understanding and knowledge of the direct marketing process, CRM systems (specifically, experience with Slate is a plus), HTML, Excel, and be comfortable with marketing analytics. Must possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Must be able to work well under deadline pressure and be a self-starter who anticipates opportunities and problems and takes initiative to identify and implement creative solutions. Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on being conscientious and detailed oriented. Individual must be flexible, have a positive attitude, collaborative spirit and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
