Our Alumni Education team connects alumni to the intellectual vibrancy of Stanford, promoting interesting and relevant learning opportunities beyond graduation. This is a highly cross-functional and collaborative role and the ideal candidate will possess intellectual curiosity, marketing experience, a sense of humor, a knack for building relationships and a team-oriented approach. Within the Alumni Relations group, this position reports to the Director, Alumni Education.
This position collaborates with SAA Marketing, Social, Digital and Editorial teams to develop and implement marketing initiatives for online programs to meet business objectives. In addition to marketing, this role handles coordinating video, webcast/webinar and podcast content within our various channels. Wearing the online curator hat on our team, a primary responsibility involves curating media from across campus and marketing these to alumni through virtual calendars, newsletters and emails. With the changing nature of online content, an openness to learning about new technologies and systems is key.
In this role you will:
Execute marketing strategies to meet business objectives.
Implement marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including collaboration with internal stakeholders and campus partners.
Analyze campaign/program/service/event effectiveness used to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing direction and audience targeting.
Write, edit and schedule select marketing communications which adhere to communications and brand strategy for a variety of channels (i.e., web, print, email, online, social).
Curate interesting Stanford content for alumni newsletters and emails
Coordinate video and audio projects for SAA programs (YouTube, SoundCloud, captioning)
Maintain event calendars for SAA's Learn and Racial Justice pages
In partnership with campus departments, plan and execute 4-5 webcasts annually to support marketing objectives. For these programs, provide customer service for online programs.
Manage content communications for the Stanford Alumni LinkedIn channel
Convene campus partners 2-3 times annually to encourage collaboration
Monitor and oversee product/program budgets to meet program goals.
Occasional project and volunteer management of other Alumni Education programs, as needed.
Manage some department financial transactions, including reimbursements and department Purchasing
Card (PCard) processing and reconciliation.
Occasionally work nights or weekends to staff alumni webcasts and events.
A commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience effectively prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to build project plans and get buy in from multiple stakeholders
Previous experience in product, program and/or services marketing.
Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of editorial practices including writing, copyediting, and proofreading.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Creative problem solver.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
Ability to translate academic information into clear, accurate, and engaging prose
Experience with email marketing and marketing automation
Familiarity with web page authoring using content management systems, especially Drupal
Familiarity with marketing tools: Marketo, Google Analytics, Salesforce or similar
