The Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks applications for the position of Accounting Specialist II. The Accounting Specialist II reports to the Budget Director and serves as a vital member of the business and administrative support team. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated to advancing the university's reputation. Staff members support the institution's mission and goals, promote its successes and achievements, inform and engage its stakeholders, and ensure the integrity of its brand. We craft audience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emerging trends. The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals across several cross-functional teams--Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, Special Events, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.
Supporting the financial management of the Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, and WUOT Radio departments with responsibility for accounting and bookkeeping, including:
preparing ledger, payroll, and procurement card reconciliations
processing financial transactions (vendor payments, internal transfers, etc.) in the university accounting system
Providing additional accounting and administrative support to WUOT Radio, including:
managing relationships and contracts with Jazz Hosts and News Reporters
completing the annual Payment Card Industry Self-Assessment Questionnaire
advising on GL coding for Underwriting ACH / Credit Card payments
managing the ISDN invoicing & collection process from start to finish
supporting the Budget Director with the annual Corporation for Public Broadcasting Audit
Providing office-wide support for the entirety of the Office of Communications & Marketing in designated accounting and administrative areas, including:
researching, reviewing, and resolving accounting and policy related issues and questions
partnering with another Accounting Specialist on the 2-person receipting / depositing process
acting as a back-up for other members of the business support team for bookkeeping, HR, travel related, and administrative tasks
