The position of Director, Marketing & Fan Engagement will play an active role in the development and implementation of marketing, sales and fan engagement strategies for the Duquesne Athletic Department. This role reports to the Associate Athletic Director, External Relations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as primary marketing contact for the women’s basketball team.
Coordinates single game and season ticket sales efforts with the ticket office.
Builds a year-round social media engagement plan for women’s basketball.
Develops, directs and coordinates a comprehensive, in-season marketing plan including theme days.
Develops an Education Day marketing plan.
Collaborates with Red & Blue Crew to drive student attendance.
Attends postseason tournaments as the on-site marketing contact.
Develops, directs, coordinates and executes marketing/attendance plans for assigned Olympic sports with clearly defined goals and objectives.
Prepares and coordinates game day promotional activities.
Identifies and implements grassroots marketing activities.
Works as a member of the department’s event management team, specifically during men’s basketball – coordinating all facets of the game day production.
Writes and develop content for use in email marketing, print, digital and social media platforms.
Critically evaluates all in-game marketing and promotional aspects.
Remains up-to-date on marketing trends and technologies.
Assists in coordinating game day logistics including scheduling of national anthem performers, color guard, halftime entertainment, public address announcers, and student workers.
Assist in coordinating assigned spirit groups (band, cheer, dance, student groups and mascots).
Grows, promotes and manages the Junior Dukes Kids Club and other youth engagement programs.
Work to create opportunities for Jr. Dukes to interact with student athletes.
Serves as the Band, Cheer and Dance liaison.
Manages day-to-day and game day scheduling of undergraduate intern program.
Manages all internship requests and responsibilities.
Coordinates athletics-related events to increase brand recognition and engagement within the community, including Red & Blue Readers, target youth groups, clinics, community relations events, mascot appearances, etc.
Assists in the hosting of all home events and postseason tournaments, i.e. Conference Championships and NCAA Tournaments.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Associate AD, External Relations.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, sports marketing or related field from an accredited institution.
Three years of progressive marketing, promotions and in-game promotion management in collegiate or professional sports.
Alternately, the successful candidate will possess any equivalent combination or training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Demonstrate strong understanding of marketing plans and strategy.
Innovative, creative and energetic personality that will recommend and implement new ideas.
Willingness to work extended hours beyond the typical business day, nights and weekends throughout the academic year.
Ability to communicate and adhere to University, Atlantic 10 Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
