The Coleman Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership, launched in January 2010, prepares engineers and scientists from students to seasoned professionals with the multidisciplinary skills to lead enterprises of all scales, in industry, government and the nonprofit sector. The Fung Institute is headquartered in UC Berkeley's College of Engineering, which is recognized for its educational and research excellence and is consistently ranked among the top three engineering colleges in the United States. The Fung Institute offers educational programs that combine leadership coursework in technology innovation and management with intensive study in an area of technical specialization. This integrated knowledge cultivates leaders who can make insightful decisions with the confidence that comes from a synthesized understanding of technological, marketplace and operational implications. The Marketing & Recruitment Specialist (Marketing Specialist 3) will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications as part of a team of 6 working on telling the story of the institute and its programs.

40% Content Strategy, Development, and Creation Plans, develops, and implements marketing plans, strategies and/or events.
Coordinates design, production and distribution of publications and other promotional materials, including email campaigns, social media, internet or web materials, press releases, advertisements, catalogs, brochures, flyers, signage, A/V presentations, displays, exhibits, etc.
Researches and analyzes new and innovative methods for promoting our programs and develops implementation proposals; evaluates efforts for effectiveness, reporting results to appropriate higher levels of administration.
Coordinates advertising placement and schedules.
Maintains and updates websites and intranet, in particular daily changes.
Supports with associated videography, photography, and graphic design needs.
35% Brand & Audience Building - Builds and maintains Fung Institute brands:
Builds relationships with partners, companies, and organizations both on and off-campus.
Manages listservs and various email marketing audiences to support outreach and recruitment.
Coordinates appropriate use of campus, institute, and/or department logos, marks, etc.
20% Event Promotion & Staffing - Manages event promotion, social media coverage, and registration.
Coordinates activities including events and promotional materials and products designed to promote awareness of the campus, institute, and/or department
Prepares communications materials including printing and production timelines, flyers and digital assets, name tags and signage.
Provides social media coverage to bring awareness to the event.
Independently staffed events which may include career chats, workshops, student coffee hours, and team meetings.
Establishes and maintains contacts with internal and external marketing professionals and vendors; e.g., artists, designers, photographers, mailing houses, postal service, list brokers, advertising representatives, media contacts, etc.
Day of event staffing, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Operational and administrative support, and other duties as assigned/needed.
