Department: Student Life Salary/Rate: $45,000 @ 1.0 FTE (This position will be subject to furlough, $36,000 @ 20% furlough) FTE: 1.0 FTE (20% furlough) Position Summary: Under the direction of the Dean of Students and Director of Student Life, the Coordinator for Student Life Marketing, Engagement, and Events will lead efforts to market and engage students in Student Life programming across the broach range of events and programming at Southern Oregon University. The Coordinator will directly oversee marketing efforts through websites, social media, print media, and use of electronic advertising on campus kiosks and through Inside SOU calendars and stories. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with all of the professionals in Student Life, including Student Activities, the Social Justice and Equity Center, and all student organizations and clubs. The Coordinator will supervise the student workers engaged in student publicity for student organizations. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with marketing efforts from the Student Recreation Center, Athletics, and University Marketing. The Coordinator will serve in a vital role that strives to use marketing to engage students with important messaging, opportunities, and programming that will assist and support Raider identity development, as well as a sense of connection and belonging that leads to improved outcomes in student success and retention. The successful Coordinator will bring creative thinking and a strong desire to enhance student success and educational outcomes through marketing and engagement. Minimum Classification Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in emerging media, graphic design, marketing, business administration, Student Affairs, or related field. One year of experience serving students in a higher education setting. A minimum of three years of experience utilizing marketing, social media, information systems, and communications plans. Proficient in graphic design programs Proficient in all forms of social media with particular skill in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Student-centered philosophy aimed at exceptional customer service. Collaborative professional with deep engagement and commitment to the success of students and Student Life. Experience with planning events and developing marketing and communication plans.Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in emerging digital media, marketing, public relations, communications, Student Affairs, or related field. Expertise working with design requests and technical services. Experience supervising student workers in an environment of higher education. Strong computer skills, including Google analytics and search optimization. Expertise with website development. Experience with program assessment. Knowledge and application of digital photography.All Listed Duties: Serve as the primary support for marketing and media engagement for Student Life, Student Activities, Social Justice and Equity, and other student life programs. Collaborate and partner with Student Life in all planning processes for significant events and opportunities for engagement across Student Life at SOU. Coordinate messages and marketing plans with other marketing and engagement professionals at SOU, including University Marketing, Marketing for the Student Recreation Center, and Marketing for Athletics, and Marketing for Admissions as appropriate. Lead website development and revision for Student Life, Student Activities, the Office of the Dean of Students, the Social Justice and Equity Center, and the Associated Students of Southern Oregon University. Engage the campus community through social media messaging and marketing. Oversee the InsideSOU Story pages to assist and promote compliance with utilization requirements. Manage the digital kiosks in and around the Stevenson Union in coordination with Student Life. Develop messaging campaigns with the University Registrar and Student Success Coordinators to ensure that SOU student are well aware of important dates and deadlines. Collaborate with student support services to ensure that students know how and where they can receive support services on and off campus. Partner with sustainability efforts to use green principles in Student Life marketing and engagement planning. Collaboratively message opportunities for equity, social justice, and diversity, inclusion, and a thriving campus community.
