This is a new position within the recently launched Office of Health Information and Data Sciences (OHIDS), overseeing a portfolio that includes the Institute for Informatics, Division of Biostatistics, Bernard Becker Medical Library, Office of the Chief Research Information Officer, and in close partnership with Medical Public Affairs, the Office of Medical Education, and the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences. The above represents an alignment of critical units across the School of Medicine integral in a top-tier academic medical institution. This position’s primary appointment is in Becker Library. The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership and report to the marketing manager.
This position is able to adapt quickly to the ongoing growth of the OHIDS portfolio and remains up-to-date regarding projects, education initiatives, and services to strategically support the team. The role requires an individual with organizational and analytical skills alongside strong business judgment and communication skills needed to interact with a variety of people and job functions. This position maintains a high-level of professionalism, maturity and urgency. In addition, the candidate understands and embodies a high degree of emotional intelligence and applied curiosity as it relates to the institute’s mission and vision.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Websites: Maintains and updates multiple websites content using content management system (WordPress). Maintains events, faculty speaker bios, and news on websites, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date. Ensures consistent look and feel by promoting uniform messaging, formatting, imagery and design. Submits content to university calendars and other outlets.
Print and digital publications: Works with marketing manager to write, produce and/or edit digital, print and promotional materials such as posters, brochures, handouts, email newsletters, annual reports, exhibits, and giveaway items for internal and external use, as well as occasional videos. Works with marketing manager to ensure brand and message alignment as well as adherence to university style guide/AP style.
Blogs and social media: Assists with sourcing content for blogs and social media, as well as planning, writing, editing and posting content.
Other duties: Takes photos and/or video at events. Maintains graphics and photo files. Performs other duties as assigned by the marketing manager.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design or related field.
Minimum of two years of experience.
Prior marketing and communications experience in an academic, nonprofit, scientific or health care setting with additional degree in journalism, English, or liberal arts is preferred.
CRITICAL SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
Demonstrated proficiency in:
Web content management systems (WordPress).
Email marketing platforms (MailChimp), including mailing list management.
