IMSA is accepting applications for a Director of Membership, Services and Marketing who will report directly to the Executive Director of the organization and will be responsible for the overall strategy, planning, and implementation of activities to promote membership retention, growth, engagement through events and successful execution of the association’s marketing programs. IMSA seeks a mid-level, experienced, highly energetic, and entrepreneurial manager who has both the capacity and demonstrated track record to carry out the assigned duties and responsibilities in an effective, efficient, and highly professional manner. S/he will be expected to contribute broadly to all aspects of the fulfillment of IMSA's Strategic Plan.
The Director of Membership, Services and Marketing will create and implement long and short-term strategies for the retention and recruitment of members, plan and execute online and in person meetings and events and will also be responsible for recording and reporting progress metrics to the Executive Director.
To achieve success in this position, it is essential for the candidate to be both independent and a team player. Performance of the duties associated with this responsibility requires an individual capable of inspiring and motivating prospective members as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position is required to meet pre-determined goals under specific deadlines.
The Director of Membership, Services and Marketing will have a demonstrated ability to perform the following duties:
Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to improve membership retention and stimulate membership growth, including direct mail/email campaigns; use of social media; website content and development; solicit volunteers to assist in recruitment efforts; create promotional materials; and analyze results.
Identify new groups of member prospects and implement tactics to secure their membership.
Research and analyze membership needs through the development and implementation of programs for new and expanded services.
Respond to inquiries from prospective members and track results.
Analyze membership dues categories in comparison to the marketplace and recommend changes as needed.
Manage membership database and ensure accurate centralized membership data.
Supervise Coordinator of Membership including oversight of office administration tied to membership development, retention, and member services.
Keep current with the latest membership marketing techniques and employ them as deemed appropriate.
Design and maintain a membership marketing booth and coordinate all logistics for the association booth at industry conferences.
Represent the association at key industry events through exhibits and direct membership promotional activities.
Serve on site selection and planning team for annual IMSA Forum and Expo
Select and implement program platform for hybrid in person/virtual conferences, webinars, and events
Develop and secure sponsorship/advertising revenue for IMSA programs and services
Responsible for design, production, promotion, advertising and distribution of all print and electronic communication tools including IMSA Journal and Annual Report and serve as review and clearinghouse for all email communications to membership.
Create and implement overall marketing and communications strategy, including the creation of strategic marketing plans, timelines, and metrics.
Manage association websites, including content, design, navigation, SEO, analytics, and integration with social media.
Develop and oversee all aspects of the association's social media programs.
Responsible for front line phone/chat and email communications execution and training of association staff.
Oversee association brand guidelines including logos, fonts, use of color, images and messaging for electronic and print communications.
Post-secondary studies, preferably in marketing.
Excellent written/oral communications and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and in the latest information technology, social media and audio/visual aids.
Experience managing a team and understanding stakeholder needs
Familiar with or the ability to work proficiently in Constant Contact/Mail Chimp and Photoshop
Ability to learn and work within the association management software (IMiS) database.
3-7 years of association or related experience in membership and marketing; small association experience preferred.
Self-motivated with solid organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
Some travel required.
Telecommuting is allowed.
