Asbury University is searching for a qualified candidate to fill the role of Director of Marketing and Communications. In addition to managing public relationships, the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for managing the organization's marketing strategy.
In evaluating applications, emphasis will be placed on a candidate’s capacity to develop, lead/coordinate, implement, and assess university-wide strategic marketing and recruitment initiatives.
The director will be expected to manage a marketing staff, demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills as they partner with key personnel throughout the university, and implement an ROI (Return on Investment) culture.
Through creative storytelling, innovative methods, and strategic targeting—the Director of Marketing and Communications is expected to highlight the value proposition of Asbury University and drive sales and revenue for the University.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess the University’s publics and constituencies to develop a strategic plan to position the University for those publics.
Oversee in-house/out-of-house publications for admissions and general University presentation.
Coordinate the unified “image/identity” of the University
Demonstrate collegiality in collaborative partnerships across the University
Work energetically to develop and enhance the University’s relationship with local/regional media markets as a springboard to potential national media opportunities disseminating and placing information in the media on campus events, lectures, concerts, sports, personalities, etc.
Seek opportunities of personal and University involvement to enhance the institution’s reputation as good citizen of the town of Wilmore, Jessamine County and the greater Bluegrass region.
Facilitate marketing research among alumni and friends to assess the University’s image and reputation among its constituencies.
Provide oversight for the various campus publishing activities.
Create and oversee a strategic visibility program for the University in advertising involving local, regional and national outlets.
Serve as Executive Producer for campus related audio and video products used in off campus marketing and communications.
Supervises a staff of five employees including a graphic designer, staff writer, webmaster, production manager, and social media manager.
Responsible for the front-door delivery of the web, digital strategy, media relations, internal communications, advertising, social media, licensing, photography, videography, graphic design, writing and specialty printing.
Serve as the official liaison between the campus and public news media.
Serve as a member of the crisis management team effectively managing the campus communications plan as needed in conjunction with the Office of the President.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree is preferred.
Progressive experience in marketing and communications at a leadership level.
Background in nonprofit structures and higher education an asset.
Strengths in audio, video and web site production as well as understanding of print communications necessary.
Familiarity with and commitment to the mission of Asbury University as a Christ-centered liberal arts institution in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition is important.
