Boston University's Marketing & Communications newsroom team is looking for an Associate Editor--someone who is an energetic and fast writer and editor who is also capable of handling some light administrative and simple budgeting tasks. Its a critical role that serves as a bridge between the University's three high visibility editorial websites: BU Today, Bostonia, and The Brink. You will work closely with editors, writers, designers, web producers, and members of the administrative/finance group. The Associate Editor will write occasional feature stories and profiles for Bostonia and BU Today, work closely with student interns on their schedules and assignments, and coordinate with members of finance to track the budgets of the three websites. As a member of Boston University's Marketing & Communications department, you will be an important contributing member of a team responsible for daily storytelling and production at a major urban university. B.A./B.S. or equivalent with one to three years experience as a writer. In addition to journalism, this position requires attention to detail, efficiency, confidentiality, and excellent analytical and follow-through skills. Candidate must have excellent communication and time-management skills, good writing skills, attention to detail, demonstrated initiative, and diplomatic skills. Experience with Word, Excel, Google Docs, and WordPress is essential. Knowledge of InCopy, Trello, and audio/podcasting skills are a plus.
