The Arena Marketing Manager will have a primary focus on Talking Stick Resort Arena initiatives, working cross-departmentally to drive awareness for a variety of arena events and to promote Downtown Phoenix as a premiere entertainment destination. Alongside the event promoters, this individual will be responsible for creating, implementing and managing fully customized, multi-channel marketing and promotional plans to engage fans and bring awareness to TSRA concerts and events.
Primary (Essential) Duties
• In collaboration with event promoters, responsible for development, execution and recap of marketing and promotional plans for all concerts and family shows at TSRA; act as local media buyer and trafficker, as needed • Work in partnership with Suns Digital & Marketing teams to gather and segment audience data and develop and execute brand and event-specific email campaigns; seek opportunities to grow lists through data acquisition • Collaborate with Suns & Mercury Game Presentation on appropriate in-game signage and timeout promotions in support of concerts and events; in turn, proactively seek opportunities to integrate the Suns brand into the arena business • Schedule TSRA traffic on Suns & Mercury broadcasts; schedule and execute relevant promotional appearances on-air, as needed • Work with the Ticket Office and Sales departments to create unique group sales opportunities and sales incentives to drive show revenue and attendance • Collaborate with the Creative Services team to create professional and concise graphics for social media, digital and print utilizing the tour-provided ad mat and/or creating from scratch • Manage all in-arena signage related to upcoming events including print banners and posters, still digital signage, video spots and show-specific welcome graphics (print and digital) • Maintain accurate and consistent records of all show-related advertising and marketing invoices in preparation for show settlements • Drive all email distributions related to arena events to include the Downtown Live newsletter, pre-sale & on-sale offers, 2-day emails, last chance emails and thank you emails/surveys; work with Analytics and Guest Experience staff to compile survey results and distribute to relevant stakeholders for follow up • Proactively seek creative, unique and personalized ways to welcome and engage artists, promoters and touring staff while promoting Downtown Phoenix as a premiere entertainment destination • Liaise with local radio, print and television media contacts on show promotion initiatives • Stay up to date with industry and market trends and act as market expert for out-of-town promoters • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and/ or Abilities
• Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, etc. • Knowledge of and ability to apply basic marketing concepts • Excellent communication skills with positive outlook and ability to drive multiple projects forward simultaneously • Strong strategic thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, and solution-oriented problem solving skills • Must have good vision for art and design direction
Experience/ Education Requirements
• 4-year college degree with a Business, Marketing or Communications focus or equivalent experience • Minimum 3+ years brand marketing/management experience, preferably with media buying and/or planning • Experience in a sports and entertainment environment strongly preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods • Must be able to lift and move 25lbs • Must attend all TSRA concerts and shows • Flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, and some holidays to meet business needs
