The director of admissions marketing and communications serves as a key member of the admissions management team, providing high-level oversight of Colby’s print, video, and digital outreach efforts. The role is responsible for managing an expansive portfolio of marketing and communications projects and a team of professional staff. The director participates in all aspects of the admissions process: conducting information sessions, managing an admissions recruitment territory, reviewing U.S. and international applications for first-year and transfer candidates, and traveling to high schools, community-based organizations, and college fairs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a member of the admissions and financial aid management team, supervising a team of staff members with broad recruitment and project responsibilities
Direct the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid’s external messaging efforts, providing training, regular updates, and ongoing management to a team of at least fifteen admissions officers
Design and implement the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid’s communications plan, incorporating digital technologies, data-driven segmentation strategies, and multi-platform content distribution for U.S. and international audiences
Lead the development, production, and proofreading of all admissions and financial aid print and digital communications
Serve as the department’s primary advisor on global marketing best practices and the collection, storage, and utilization of data for outreach and engagement initiatives
Oversee the management of the department’s website, ensuring new initiatives and distinctive College programs are featured prominently
Manage partnerships with the College’s Office of Communications, external vendors, design firms, production companies, and mail houses to ensure successful content integration, development, and delivery
Develop internal processes to evaluate admissions and financial aid communication efforts, and utilize results to direct future outreach initiatives
Evaluate applications and provide recommendations for first-year and transfer admissions
Direct the recruitment of students from an assigned geographic region, leading outreach end engagement efforts and traveling to high schools, community-based organizations, recruitment events, and college fairs approximately 4-5 weeks annually
Lead visitor information sessions and conduct professional development workshops
Participate in implementing the strategic initiatives of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid

The director of admissions marketing and communications has significant interaction with prospective students and their families, as well as Colby faculty, staff, and a diverse array of external constituents. The director of admissions marketing and communications will coordinate communications and marketing initiatives across multiple platforms with Colby’s Office of Communications.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Several weeks of domestic travel and frequent evening and weekend work required throughout the year. Heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be necessary.

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience
4 + years of experience in marketing, communications, admissions, or a related field preferred
Experience utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to inform strategic planning and decision-making
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Proven experience independently overseeing complex projects and programs
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Strong, self-motivated work ethic, and a competitive spirit
