Association Marketing & Membership Manager, REMSA
Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association
Chambers, Conlon & Hartwell (www.cch-llc.com), a government affairs, consulting, and trade association management firm focused on the rail transportation industry, is seeking an associate in its Washington, DC office. This new hire would be assigned to a railroad supplier trade association client of the firm, the Railway Engineering & Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA). By extension, this position will also interact with many of the association’s members.
The objective of this position is to elevate the association’s marketing efforts, brand, and membership communications. A successful candidate will be responsible for social media content/activity, monthly newsletters and press releases, marketing efforts, member/prospective member interaction, and website management/development. Candidate will be expected to conduct research and deliver information on behalf of association and its members. Candidate will also be responsible for the Public Relations efforts of the association through traditional media and social media in addition to serving as primary staff/liaison to the REMSA Outreach Committee. The candidate will also represent REMSA in joint projects/events with other industry trade associations.
The candidate will also be called upon to assist REMSA staff with other projects including day to day activities associated with the operation of the association, industry trade shows and conferences, etc. Candidate will also be expected to travel on occasion for industry events and other outreach activities.
Candidate should have demonstrated experience with media, public relations, and/or government affairs. An interest in rail transportation issues is preferred and an ability to quickly become familiar with railroad issues is required. Position will also require good public presentation skills. Proficiency with the basic Microsoft Office suite is expected.

45-55 hours per week is expected. Previous association experience is preferred but not required. Starting salary is $55-$65k, with an ability to increase over time based on performance. Competitive benefits offered. Office is located on the House side of Capitol Hill in SE DC, very short walking distance from the Capitol South metro station. Start date is immediate – position is available now. There is no set end date to the position, with opportunities as potential career path position. Occasional travel expected, roughly 6-8- business trips per year.
