The Director of Marketing manages the development and execution of the marketing and communications strategy and ensures all marketing communications are consistent with CNS brand identity and messaging. Creates marketing plans, programs and campaigns to generate member prospects and recruit new members through marketing activities and sales of member products and services, e.g., CNS Annual Meeting, live courses, online educational services. Supervisory responsibility for Marketing & Communications staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Develops marketing plans and manages marketing activities and associated budgets for all CNS programs, products and activities, as well as for Section and other partner meetings managed by the CNS.
Oversees the design, copywriting, and content development for all collateral and promotional materials, electronic communications, public relations, advertising, cross-promotional opportunities, website, video, etc. to ensure consistency with CNS brand, messaging strategy and sytle.
Has primary brand, messaging and content development oversight for the CNS Member e-newsletter, and other member communication vehicles working collaboratively with the Staff VP, Programs and Communications.
Directs public relations, media relations, membership communications, and all association Publications. Directs the association's promotion, publicity, and public relations activities. Develops cooperative public relations programs with related industries and/or associations.
Collaborates on Congress Quarterly publication strategy and all CNS publication strategy with team leads and Committee liaisons.
Develops and oversees execution of social media strategy and directs the development of content for all social media outlets in alignment with the organizational marketing and communications strategy.
Develops and oversees execution of product marketing strategy for select products as directed by the Staff VP, Programs and Communications and in collaboration with each Staff project/product and program team lead.
Collaborates on new product development; market research, concept testing and messaging for new products.
Advises and assists membership department as appropriate with regard to membership promotions and campaigns.
Has primary management responsibility for marketing publications that support functions and events.
Oversees development of onsite graphics for the CNS Annual Meeting and Section meetings managed by the CNS, to ensure consistency with brand and style guide.
Reviews and analyzes marketing campaigns on a regular basis, through sales and tracking information to ensure the most cost-effective marketing efforts are being implemented and recommends alternate strategies, when appropriate, to achieve revenue goals.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Five to seven years’ progressive marketing and/or communications experience, preferably in a medical/physician association.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication or related field required.
Experience with developing and implementing integrated marketing campaigns including direct mail, digital marketing and social media.
Supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to develop a cohesive team and utilize the diverse abilities of staff.
Basic HTML skills/experience and /or familiarity with Drupal CMS.
Experience with SEO and SEM.
Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop preferred.
Strong computer and typing skills required, including expertise with Microsoft suite of software: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Solid understanding of social media and ability to navigate popular outlets (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter).
Proficient in use of internet.
Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with volunteer leaders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment and tact.
Excellent writing and grammar skills required.
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills required.
