Position Summary
The Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications will serve as a leader within the department, design and produce key publications, oversee general marketing of programs and services, and maintain department web sites. Under direct supervision, build, cultivate, advocate for, respond to, monitor, and grow a digital community on behalf of an organization.
The expected hiring range is between $50,000 to $55,000 annually, contingent upon qualifications and experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- One (1) or more years of proven experience in a graphic design and/or marketing position

Preferences
- Master's Degree
- Three (3) years of proven experience in a graphic design and/or marketing position
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Knowledge of Abode Creative Suite and iMac computers
Essential Functions
- Manages the development of the digital communication and brand strategy for all Recreation Center programs and areas.
- Writes, designs, and coordinates the production of digital communication and marketing materials.
- Recommends and implements integrated communications and / or marketing plans to meet objectives.
- Builds and / or maintains a digital community through social media channels, blogs and the web.
- Oversees the design and development of graphics and web pages.
- Drafts and curates digital content used to engage constituents and grow channels.
- Implements social listening efforts and reports back to management.
- Provides customer service to constituents across digital channels.
- Represents the organization to constituents.
- Compiles data, analyzes and reports metrics.
- Assists with inbound and outbound marketing activities such as event planning, advertising and content development.
- Manages present and future products by determining and evaluating current and future trends
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Additional Functions
- Maintains current knowledge of the university, its environment, purpose, and affairs, and be prepared to respond to appropriate issues.
- Develops effective working relationships and positively influence and motivate staff.
- Maintains supplies and equipment inventory and makes necessary purchases.
- Anticipates and identifies issues and areas of improvement and produces viable and logical solutions.
- Utilizes strategic planning, conceptualization, critical thinking, independent judgment, problem solving, creativity, initiative, vision, and innovation to ensure quality in all areas of responsibility.
- Writes proposals, prepares presentations, negotiates contracts, serves on committees, coordinates special events and projects, conducts research, and represents the division at conferences.
