General DescriptionThe Manager of Marketing and Development Communications will provide vision, leadership, policy formulation and development for and management of an integrated marketing program to promote and advance the development initiatives of the School of Education, and the recruitment of qualified candidates to its programs. The primary function of the Manager, who reports to the Associate Dean for Development and External Relations, is to promote the School of Education by cultivating recognition of its accomplishments, bring visibility to development opportunities and successes, and provide context and relevance of its academic programs to potential candidates.
Primary duties and responsibilities of the job: Develop and implement an integrated, comprehensive marketing plan for the School of Education; work creatively and collaboratively with academic programs to assist in their outreach efforts as part of a comprehensive SOE marketing and recruitment strategy; and with Development Team develop and implement stewardship strategy, including templates, timing, drafting and execution of donor acknowledgements; and promote philanthropic or grant funding received by school centers, divisions and individual faculty. The Manager will work to promote School with constituencies throughout the university by developing methods and materials to ensure that external and internal audiences are made aware of the School activities? oversee production of all printed and electronic development communications shared with its external and internal audiences? and determine content, contribute to writing, and manage production of the School's stewardship process and packages, and content for the School's development and alumni website, development publications, e.g., Education Matters newsletters, brochure texts, articles, and seasonal and special communications.
In addition, he or she will direct all written and graphical elements working in collaboration with the university's Development and Alumni Relations Office of Communications to promote the School of Education through press releases, articles, and calendar listings and generating story ideas for university development publications. The successful candidate will act as a member of the School of Education's Development and Alumni Relations Management Team and oversee the Development Coordinator, and will develop and manage the budget for Marketing.
Internal and external contacts required as part of the job: Work directly with the School of Education's Dean on special events and projects, e.g., oversee visits, tours or events for special guests, visiting faculty, and donors? work closely with the Development Office to identify programs and leverage them with other Hopkins divisions, area schools and cultural organizations? work with Development to design and direct the writing of all solicitation and stewardship materials.
