Director of Marketing Athletics Full-time, Administrative & Professional Faculty, Exempt Position #GA323
Longwood University, a historic public liberal arts institution and host of the 2016 U.S. Vice Presidential Debate, invites qualified candidates to apply for Director of Marketing. The Director of Marketing will be responsible for the execution of all marketing, promotional and engagement efforts on campus, locally, regionally, and nationally for the athletic department on behalf of Longwood University.
RESPONSIBILITIES: •Manage the marketing strategy for Longwood University Athletics; oDevelop marketing and promotional plan for athletics oServe as a brand educator for both the athletic department and University oProvide oversight of the promotional efforts integrated into home contests •Foster, maintain, and enhance the relationships with key constituents; oDevelop brand ambassadors of local individuals throughout the community who support athletics oEngage campus groups for continued partnerships for event attendance and cross-promotional opportunities oServe as campus ambassador for University marketing efforts •Oversight of key department fan and support groups through social and in-person engagement; oDevelop strategy and manage youth affinity programs oExpand the Lancer Reading Program oAssist with the growth of the Lancer Lunatics student group •Execution of all entertainment pieces to Longwood Lancer home athletic events; including, but not limited to: oManagement of the in-game audio and visual content outputs oDevelopment and implementation of all interactive opportunities for fans •Supervise one paid intern and student intern staff
REQUIREMENTS: •Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Public Relations, or related field •Master’s degree preferred •Demonstrated understanding in managing marketing efforts in a Division I athletics department •Work experience of increasing responsibility related to fan retention, community engagement, and brand development •Work experience in creation of content for growth through engagement of multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat •Excellent organizational and project coordination skills •Proven ability to be a strong team player •Demonstrated ability to work independently •Strong attention to detail •Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines •Positive, creative, resourceful, and strategic thinker •Willingness to work nights and weekends •Experience in graphic design work preferred
Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position. A successful criminal background investigation is required.
