We are seeking a full-time, detail oriented, friendly professional to join our association office in Washington, DC. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the Society by working collaboratively with staff, committees, and others throughout the year. The Membership & Marketing Manager reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for the implementation and management of all membership and marketing operations for the Society.
This position directs membership and marketing initiatives and develops business plans to achieve strategic plan goals; is responsible for developing and implementing the membership recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies; manages membership operations including membership maintenance, reports and queries; builds relationships with CFAW members; is able to clearly communicate and sell the value of membership to potential, new and current members.
Additionally, this position is responsible for all elements of the Society’s marketing and communication, including collateral, online newsletters, email campaigns and messaging across CFAW’s social media platforms.
Serve as primary contact for all member inquiries
Review, evaluate and analyze membership trends, needs and participation to track and grow recruitment, retention and involvement
Develops short- and long-term member retention plans and strategies to expand and engage members
Develops and manages a process for regularly identifying member and potential member needs. Creates a member value proposition. Assesses and recommends member benefits to ensure continued/enhanced value to members
Serve as staff liaison for Member Engagement and External Relations committees
Develop integrated membership campaigns (email, website, and online advertising)
Assist in the active recruitment and engagement of volunteers
Follow up with lapsed, dropped and unaffiliated members via surveys and/or phone calls
Develop and maintain expert level familiarity with the membership database
Produce routine and special requested reports from the database
Serve as primary liaison between CFAW and CFAI’s Society Tech Department
Develop, manage, and maintain a 6-month Communication Plan that outlines all scheduled communications to members
Produce and distribute online monthly newsletters and weekly event updates
Develop and distribute dedicated email messages regarding projects and programs as appropriate and on a pre-established schedule
Manage the design and creation of print collateral
Utilize social media as a regular platform for communicating with the CFAW membership and financial investment community at large
Promote and engage members to increase use of CFAW social media platforms
Maintain an effective, inviting, and visually appealing website design
Continually monitor and edit the CFAW website, ensuring priority items are featured, older information is updated or removed, and all weblinks work
Ensure accurateness and relevancy of all information on the website
7 to 10 years’ work experience within a membership organization is required
Proven project and financial management skills and previous membership development work in an association environment
Proficiency and experience with association management software
Strong experience with contact management databases – Salesforce preferred
Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, strategies, and tactics
Experience leveraging social media platforms in a business setting – LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter
Advanced knowledge of digital communication and marketing automation
Strong knowledge of MS Office, Constant Contact, and event registration software
Self-directed, works independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Excellent proofing skills
Ability to work well under pressure and think outside the box when needed
