Position Summary: The Director of Air Service Development (ASD) and Marketing at the Orlando Sanford International Airport is responsible for creating and implementing the air service development strategy, marketing, and community awareness to increase the airline capacity, frequency and passenger levels.
Company Background: TBI US Operations, Inc. is the parent company of two main trading units of business within the “TBI” family; OSGroup (includes all the legal trading entities operational at the Orlando Sanford International Airport), and TBI Airport Management, Inc. (TBI AM). OSGroup has a long term management contract (each 20 years) with the Sanford Airport Authority (SAA) to operate the international and domestic terminals at SFB. TBI AM has total or partial management contracts from governments or local authorities in seven additional airports in the U.S. (Atlanta, Atlantic City, Burbank, Ontario, Macon (2) and Raleigh-Durham). Airports Worldwide (AWW) is the ultimate global parent company responsible for the ownership, operation and management of TBI’s airport activities. AWW is currently present in 11 airports throughout 4 countries with numerous subsidiaries.
Primary Job Responsibilities: AIR SERVICE DEVELOPMENT: • Formulate and execute strategies (i) to attract and retain airline services and passengers and (ii) to attract new services to diversify the customer base and mitigate concentration risk. • Research opportunities regarding new airline customers or route opportunities. • Analyze data to support strategic initiatives. • Compose and carry out air service development presentations. • Manage airline programs to generate higher aeronautical and non-aeronautical yields. • Negotiate agreements with airline customers encompassing the terms and conditions of their activity at the airport, including rates and charges. • Carry out role of primary contact with airlines customers regarding relationships and service delivery. • Develop airline incentive programs to stimulate passenger growth. • Increase number of airlines, seat capacity, frequency and new destinations • Increase aero and non-aero revenue. • Coordinate research and studies to develop ASD strategy, identify catchment area and identify target markets using industry recognized consultants and resources.
MARKETING: • Serve as liaison with public authorities to guide a common philosophy for the airport and provide support for community involvement in airport initiatives. • Brand champion –owns all aspects of promoting and protecting the SFB brand; coordinate and manage the airport’s brand awareness to the local community and airline industry. • Develop strategic partnerships with key tourism partners for the airport. • Research, coordinate and manage various staff projects and studies as required, providing marketing and promotional recommendations on possible courses of action or solutions. • Supervise the preparation and creation for various media (print, radio, TV, web, etc.). • Manage the planning and implementation of press releases, news conferences and other special events. • Develop and implement a focused marketing program based on research and deep understanding of market, both inbound and outbound. • Identify appropriate events and community involvement activities to further the marketing strategy and promote the airport in the region, including events, sponsorships and speaking engagements. • As part of the marketing strategy, identify advertising opportunities that support the goal. • Develop a complementary social media strategy using tools such as Facebook, website and Twitter. • Develop, implement and manage the marketing budget. • Assist General Manager and CFO in the development of commercial programs in the terminal to serve passengers. • In coordination with our partner, SAA, develop and position brand of airport to customers which includes passengers and airlines.
• Maintain partnership with SAA and meet deliverables defined in contract with SAA. • Manage and coordinate customer relationships pertaining to the SFB fueling joint-venture. • Supervise the sales and operational activities of the airport’s passenger lounge, the Royal Palm Lounge. • Assist with air service development/marketing needs for TBI AM on an ad hoc basis. • Develop a team to support the goals and objectives of the division. • Responsible for monthly reporting to the SAA and AWW boards (through the GM). • Direct oversight on the delivery of customer service through the information services and VIP lounge. • Additional duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to think creatively and outside the box while remaining resilient and persistent in identifying and pursing new opportunities for marketing and air service development. The Orlando market sells itself, so the successful candidate will be able to capitalize on the myriad of opportunities that are already present in this area.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Airport Management or a related field is required. Master’s degree is a plus. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an airline or airport related field. • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in air service development and marketing, including contracts is required. • Experience with airline networks and alliances, tour operators and packaging, preferably tourism, is required. • 2+ years of supervisory responsibilities. • International air service development experience is desirable. • Commercial development experience is desirable. • Experience at a privatized airport a major plus. • Bilingual language skills a plus. WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Effort: While performing the duties of the position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the course of daily activities. The employee is occasionally required to climb, lift, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is required to work on a computer, in addition to doing paper work.
Mental Effort: Position involves encounters with members at every level of the organization, airline employees, vendors, subcontractors, regulatory stakeholders, shareholders and members of the public, and requires a sense of responsibility to provide a high level of service and accurate information. The position involves stress associated with responding to/solving problems. The position requires the exercise of discretion and independent judgment, as well as a creative approach to formulating responses, as required. Operations are dynamic and situations may require immediate attention. This position has high exposure to the public and requires a professional approach and demeanour under all conditions.
