Advertised Summary Job Description: Columbia Journalism School is in search for a part-time M.A. Marketing coordinator. The officer, who will work a variable schedule, will be responsible for designing and developing a marketing and communications plan (social media, web content, emails, etc.), with clear data on impression counts for each type of media/outreach used and for identifying areas of improvement based on the results.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Establishing a LinkedIn presence for the M.A. Program and develop alumni engagement Designing and implementing a social media campaign to boost the profile of the M.A. Program on Twitter Researching and writing promotional materials, including tweets and web copy Assisting in the production of other types of content for social media and the web, including webinars Engaging alumni in publicity and recruiting, possibly employing a Facebook group Reaching out to prospective students and others Overseeing the buys of ads and/or boosted posts on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience required Minimum 0-2 years related experience
Must have experience using Twitter and LinkedIn
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Must be technically adept. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Must be punctual, detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated and have the ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently. Must be comfortable working in fast-paced environment with quick deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with journalism and the news cycle strongly preferred
Prior experience in event planning or related field is strongly preferred.
