University at Buffalo School of Nursing (UBSON) is seeking a creative and motivated professional to create, share, and measure engaging content across digital and print media communications outlets. The marketing and communications coordinator will collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to build and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan with all key constituents, including prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, friends and community partners. They will be responsible for creating and generating ideas for on-brand marketing and recruitment materials, such as newsletters, news articles, press releases, ads and magazine articles, among other communications pieces. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a passion for higher education. Specific duties include:
Create, manage and update content on the external-facing UBSON website, ensuring consistency and alignment with UB's branding, while employing strategies to keep content fresh and engaging.
Remediate web accessibility issues on the UBSON website.
Manage UBSON's official social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) and provide support in monitoring and reporting of social media trends and analytics.
Assist with marketing campaigns, from design to post-campaign evaluation.
Generate content and create communications pieces for newsletters, blog posts, articles, press releases, print and digital advertisements, and social media content.
Work closely with divisional and university-wide constituents to develop communications pieces that align with UBSON’s strategic plan.
Provide assistance with UBSON's alumni and special events as needed. This may include, among other tasks, assistance with designing invitations, disseminating social media content, and attending events to provide staff support.
Bachelor's degree required (preferred in in English, Communications or Business).
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Knowledge of various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Excellent proofreading skills.
Knowledge of digital marketing best practices.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work while under pressure.
Desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
Excellent organizational skills.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
Basic knowledge of Associated Press style.
Proficiency working with Microsoft Office.
Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics and Hootsuite (or similar social media management tool).
Experience using content management systems.
Knowledge of SEO and web accessibility best practices.
