The University of Southern Mississippi, a member of Conference USA and NCAA Division I (FBS), invites applicants for the position of Athletics Graduate Assistant. These are 9-month, graduate student position that runs from August 15, 2018 to May 15, 2019 with the potential to be renewed. Position includes graduate school tuition and a monthly stipend. The University of Southern Mississippi offers 17 intercollegiate sports. The number of positions available are listed in parenthesis.
Graduate Assistant Ticket Operations (1): They will be primarily responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the ticket office as well as running the box office at football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing customer service to ticket holders; working on the backend of Paciolan, generating reports and analyzing data; working within PacMail to send periodic emails; manage the scheduling and recruitment of student workers to manage all events; assisting with ticket operations for theatre and orchestra events; and other duties as assigned.
Graduate Assistant Marketing (1): They will be primarily responsible for the development of marketing plans for fall and spring Olympic Sports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting with various game presentation duties for football, men’s and women’s basketball; aiding in further development of social media and multimedia; oversee Seymour’s Sidekicks, the Seymour mascot program, and oversee student intern staff; establish effective on-campus marketing efforts aimed at increasing student attendance; and other duties as assigned.
Graduate Assistant Communications (3): They will be primarily responsible for covering assigned sports and providing media and sports information support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: serving as primary media contact for assigned sports; managing social media accounts and producing content for social media; writing press releases, previews, recaps, and features on sport programs, keeping official stats for sport programs; manage game day operations of press box and media relations; manage the scheduling and recruitment of student interns to manage all operations and social media at events; and other duties as assigned.
Graduate Assistant Digital Media (1): They will be primarily responsible for assisting with all digital marketing, social media, and graphic design efforts for the department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing department and team social media accounts, developing and maintaining social media and digital plans, provide graphic design support for the department, manage branding efforts, assist in photographic efforts, participate in managing website and other duties as assigned.
Graduate Assistant Video Production (1): They will be primarily responsible for the execution of video broadcasts and streaming efforts for football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: operating video boards at football, men’s and women’s basketball; production of videos for game day, advertising and social media; fulfilling media requests for highlights and player footage; recruitment and scheduling of interns for events; and other duties as assigned.
