In this highly visible position, the Director of Marketing will lead The Gazette’s marketing strategy to drive The Gazette’s visibility, engagement, reader loyalty through new product development. This role will serve as the marketing lead, working to ensure program and product creation aligns with overall business and marketing goals.
We are seeking a team player with experience developing products by identifying market potential; conducting research; generating product requirements; determining specifications, development timetables, pricing and go-to marketing strategies.
Oversee the direction, development and execution of new audiences and products.
Conduct research on viability of new products or new markets for current products.
Manage the implementation of new products/programs and product changes as well as the consolidation of existing products in support of business goals.
Oversee marketing data development and analysis to identify segments and audience behaviors that provide targeted prospects to our partners for advertising purposes or for our own marketing purposes
Help create and support online content membership and subscription marketing development, develop audience funnel and create opportunities to move audience down the path to purchase
Deliver the thought leadership required to build a robust foundation of marketing analytical tools for analyzing and interpreting data to make strong data-driven marketing decisions
Proactively bring innovative new ideas and explore growth opportunities
Develop and understand key audiences and their engagement patterns to identify opportunities
Oversee and track KPIs for all marketing investments
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communication or related field required.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, preferably in a purchased consumer product business, with 5 years of that comprised of product development specialization.
Experience with marketing metrics: conversion rate, click-through rate, internal and external benchmarking, ROI analysis and other key performance indicators.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to ask the right questions to identify business challenges and objectives, analyze data, draw conclusions, and develop insights that are both meaningful and actionable.
Display a forward-moving and digitally curious mind-set that recognizes new opportunities
Exhibits a collaborative mind-set as part of an integrated team that shares ideas, learns from feedback, and supports each other in the achieving The Gazette’s business goals
Excellent oral and written communications, as well as consensus building skills; strong creative problem-solving and analytic capabilities
Expertise in the development, implementation and evaluation of digital marketing plans.
Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Required technical proficiencies: knowledge of several ESPs, DMPs, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and Twitter Analytics.
