Title: Director of Digital and DirectMarketing

In support of its purpose and in response to existing and emergingneeds of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the department is seeking an experiencedand proven professional to serve as the director of VUMC development digitaland direct marketing. This professional will successfully lead a program thatengages and secures gifts from grateful patients, former residents and fellows,friends of the medical center and new constituencies using proven strategiesand tactics to support integrated direct marketing and online fundraisingcampaigns and achieve donor growth and fundraising goals. The director ofdigital and direct marketing will be responsible for producing and using robustanalytical research on the donor base, new donors, lapsed donors, consecutivedonors, and direct-mail appeal to drive results at or above national benchmarkstandards. This individual will serve as an exemplary ambassador andrepresentative for Vanderbilt University Medical Center mission and values andprovide leadership to a team of professional fundraisers by setting a solutionand results-oriented tone that is consistent with Vanderbilt University MedicalCenter values and campaign aspirations.
Goal Setting, Strategy,and Planning
Responsiblefor VUMC fundraising direct marketing operations and goalsâincludingestablishing projections and achieving goals in terms of new money, cash in,acquisition, renewal and participation.
Withthe supervision of the senior director of digital and direct marketing, developand propose both annual and multi-year plans for direct mail, direct marketingand online fundraising.
Workwith VUMC Development and Medical Center leadership to identify priorities forannual giving funds.
Alignand supervise a staff structure that supports revenue and donor goals.
Integratedirect mail, on-line giving and digital media strategies in active partnershipwith VUMC strategic marketing, news and communications, and other developmentpartners.
Workwith outside consultants, as needed, to develop VUMC direct marketingstrategies.
Collaborateclosely with information managers to assure the accuracy, integrity andusefulness of data and required reports.
Collaboratewith colleagues in VUMC development communications and, as needed, with VUMCstrategic marketing regarding design and messaging for direct mail appeals,acknowledgements, e-mail appeals, on-line giving, and other vehicles forassigned programs.
Collaboratewith colleagues to integrate direct marketing and online giving campaigns.
Developeffective strategies to increase donor growth and retention.
Track,analyze and report direct marketing results, trends and projection.
Managea substantial and complex budget, ensuring appropriate use of funds, timelyreimbursement of vendors, acquisition of inventory, and measurable return oninvestment.
Supportthe identification of donors who show promise for major gift potential.
Ensureall annual giving activity is in compliance with VUMC policies and protocols.
Overseethe management and design of the Canby Robinson Society- the leadership donorsociety for VUMC.
Collaboratewith VUMC development stewardship to communicate the donor impact.
Abachelorâs degree and three years of relevant experience required.
Anadvanced degree and eight years of relevant experience is preferred.
