The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) is seeking a Communications & Marketing Intern to assist in the development of promotional campaigns to help raise awareness of AIR’s brand. The intern will report to the Communications & Marketing Coordinator, but may also receive assignments from other members of the Communications & Marketing Team. Applicant must be a senior if currently in an undergraduate studies program. Term of employment is one semester. Intern must be available 20 hours per week; schedule is flexible. This is a paid internship.
Responsibilities •Assist with development of creative concepts and marketing strategies for promoting the work of AIR •Coordinate with graphic designers to translate create concepts into print, online, and other collateral materials •Develop content for promotional materials including email messages, direct mail pieces, electronic newsletter, web site and social media stories, medial releases, and other materials as needed •Assist with copyediting for the various promotional materials defined above •Assist in maintaining AIR’s social media presence •Assist with updating copy on the AIR website •Attend weekly Communications & Marketing meetings, and assist with scheduling and preparing materials for these meetings
Qualifications •Firm grasp of available social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snap Chat, Pinterest, etc.) •Working toward a degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., marketing/communications or public relations) •Computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel) and proficiency in Adobe •Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus •An effective communicator, both written and verbal; ability to communicate in a professional manner •Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment •Enthusiasm for the mission of AIR and the IR community that we serve
