JOB OBJECTIVE: To proactively position and market the city of Little Rock as a destination for meetings, conventions and leisure travel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversees sales, group travel and client services department. Coaching/mentoring staff, with emphasis on direct reports, to maximize sustainable productivity, positive behavior and progressive improvement.
Maintains overall responsibility for as well as assigns and directors the work activities of Sr. Level and Director level staff.
Assist in the development of an annual marketing strategy and plan, sales team action plans and strategies to promote the destination. Responsible for all budgeting for the Sales department including approval of all expenditures.
Responsible for achieving revenue goals, booking pace goals, financial performance of the department, as well as citywide group business optimization, and long range sales and marketing of the City.
Initiates new accounts and lead development; work to develop cooperative programs, familiarization trips, site visits and sales missions with area hotels and the hospitality industry to market the Little Rock area.
Attend convention, association and consumer tourism trade shows in order to promote Little Rock as a destination.
Maintains and develops close working relationship with area hotels and other LRCVB stakeholders as well as conduct regular meetings with hotel sales professionals in the greater Little Rock area.
Implements the goals, objectives, and directives of the President / Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the policies of the LRCVB.
Participates in Executive Level Management problem solving and decision making processes.
Prepares an annual budget as it relates to Sales and Services.
Plans and implements new programs, policies and methods to ensure efficient and effective operation of assigned departments.
Develops standards and reviews the performance of assigned departmental staff and contractors in obtaining stated goals and objectives.
Provides regular reports to the CEO regarding key issues of assigned departmental staff and contractors and actions taken regarding those issues.
Attends Advertising & Promotion Commission meetings and appropriate subcommittee meetings.
Operates a microcomputer with spreadsheet and word processing software.
Interacts with other LRCVB employees and departments in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner.
Operates an automobile in the performance of essential job functions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of a cross-section of business disciplines, including sales, marketing, hospitality industry operations, financial and accounting systems, e-commerce and business communications.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Communication, Hospitality Management or similar; Master’s degree is preferred. Effective communication, oral and written are key components to this position. 10+ years experience in the hospitality industry relating to sales with 5+ years experience in an executive and/or senior sales leadership role; and two (2) years of supervisory experience, which includes supervision of managerial level personnel. Must have budget experience. Must be able to foster and develop relationships with industry leaders and develop the City of Little Rock as a destination for meetings, conventions and leisure travel.
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position. Must show proof of valid automobile insurance before being approved to drive any LRCVB vehicle.
Must have access to a properly licensed and insured, reliable automobile for reimbursable assigned business travel.
Must obtain a personal credit card for fully reimbursable business expenses.
Must be available to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.

The Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau is a publicly funded organization. It serves as the primary source for Little Rock meeting and tourism information. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the full-service convention bureau, the Statehouse Convention Center, the Robinson Center, the Robinson Center Music Hall, 4 full-service visitor information centers, 2 parking decks, 1... parking garage, 2 surface lots, River Market Indoor Food court and event space, Riverfest Amphitheater, and a Retail Shop. The funding comes from a hotel and restaurant tax and the State of Arkansas. The CVB is governed by a 7-member commission, and they serve a four-year term.
