The Marketing Department in the College of Business seeks a Generalist in Marketing to fill a Full Time Lecturer position beginning fall 2017 with classes beginning Sep 6 2017. This individual will be assigned to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Marketing. Additional experience in one or more of the related disciplines in the department such as but not limited to Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC), Retailing and Sales Courses, or Supply Chain Management.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching may include a number of obligations which are not limited to: delivering courses in traditional classrooms and online; meeting and/or communicating with students during and outside of assigned class periods; assessing student work and performance; preparing syllabi and course materials for traditional and online delivery; providing copies of syllabi and relevant materials to the department upon request; and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules. Service-related departmental duties include but are not limited to serving as faculty advisor to marketing-affiliated student organization(s). Ability to coach student sales competitions/club is a plus.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between EMU and the EMU Federation of Teachers Local 9102, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
The candidates must have at least an earned MBA or related specialty Masters' in one of the functional disciplines of the department from an AACSB-accredited institution.
Candidates holding a Ph. D. and the experience teaching a variety of marketing courses are especially encouraged to apply. The candidates shall provide evidence of effective teaching performance in traditional and online classes at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
A minimum of two years teaching experience is preferred. Industry experience in the following subject areas is highly desirable: Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC), General Marketing, Retailing/Sales, and/or Advanced knowledge of consumer behavior theories and models is also desirable.
For candidates with IMC experience, expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desired: Advertising and Promotional Strategy; Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC); IMC Creative Strategy and execution; and comprehensive IMC campaign development. Familiarity with the Canvas LMS for online course delivery and evidence of scholarly publication activity is a plus.
